Hykem i just remembered, i have a spare adapter from my dead Wii U. Id be more than willing to donate it to you for the "cause."

Are you in the states? Mines a US adapter....

if it has ~5A or more it would power it, yes but most laptop chargers are crap for applications like this, they overheat, and give very unstable power. very bad on a console. plus I'm not sure if the wiiu PSU is switching or not (needs a signal to turn on)
A laptop psu should be just fine as long as the output matches up (ideally).

Laptop psu's shouldnt be unstable (at least here in the states theyre fine), unless you got a really crappy knockoff from china (guaranteed to burn your house down or your $1 back!).

But seriously most of them are fine, when in doubt take a multimeter to it and test the output (if you have one handy).

Im a computer/cellphone/ tablet repair technician and from my own experience laptop psu's are stable, the only exception being super cheap knockoffs

make sure the thing has been under load for an hour then pull out your multimeter. you will be surprised.
Of course it will change values you add load, thats just a basic concept of electric circuits. Adding load=more resistance which will directly effect the current and voltage. In fact, the moment you connect a multimeter to you circuit, you're adding load (there is a resistor inside that thing). This partially accounts for readings being "off" by a bit no matter what you're reading. That and the fact that no components are actually ideal values when you actually use them.

If you're getting readings off an adapter that are realky off (not even remotely close to what they should be, then you have a defective charger (either that or your meter is on the fritz .

Ohms law equation: V=IR
V=voltage
I=current (engineers are weird :p)
R=resistance

That equation (like any equation) can be rearranged to find any of those values based on the values you have already.

Ohms law ALWAYS applies in dc circuits, once you get into some of the fancier AC components thats not always the case.

That being said the psu converts ac to dc while stepping down the voltage. All the adapter outputs is dc meaning Ohms law applies no matter what as far as the output goes.

This is a basic principle of electricity and physics. Unless something is drastically wrong with your adapter, the output (ideally) should not change. Of course due to the fact that nothibg is ideal in practice/reality there will be minor discrepancies and fluctuations but it will always stay within a reasonable ballpark.

Not trying to be rude here, just pointing something out. If you're getting major discrepancies on your adapters output, either the adapter is bad, or your meter is .

I already took care of that. NWPlayer123 was not talking about the power adapter, it's just the UK plugs that are different, that's all.
I simply went to an electronics shop and got an universal plug adapter. Problem solved.

The Wii U arrived in a perfect state, don't worry.

WiiU Basic with 5.1.2E (had to buy AssCreed IV) with an OpenWRT router ready for testing if time allows.

I've got a new router with OpenWRT and cannot figure out where to download (the right?) ebtables to block IPs and Webaddresses. Any advice?
 
I found a neat trick (that makes the browser work really funky but works). Connect your Wii U to a router, go in the settings for the connection, change the DNS to "do not auto obtain", then change the first one to 192.168.0.0 and the second to 127.0.0.1, should only let you access local IPs to run programs ;) no additional programs needed

So connect to localhost only pretty much?
 
@TeamScriptKiddies I'm not trying to start anything. I love your posts. I think this is our first disarrangement haha :)
but I said 'been' under load. when a transistor heats up it loses efficiency this is a fact.

So connect to localhost only pretty much?

Any local IP from your router. I can connect to 192.168.0.5 (my laptop) just fine with it like that, but google.com errors. I suppose if you tried to connect to google.com as an IP it might work since it's the DNS translation that fails.
