Hardware Wii turning off by itself

Hi All,
My wii keeps turning itself off, sometimes lasts a few minutes sometimes doesn’t load a game. I bought a new wii as I thought it was the old one that was the problem but the new one is the same. I’ve reset the brick as I’d read that on another forum don’t know what to do next, thought about buying a new power source.
Any ideas?

Has the new bought Wii also a Power Supply ?
Is the Wii´s Fan moving / spinning / blowing ?

Maybe:

- Power Surge ?
- Power Strip ?
- Maybe try and connect it into an Wall Plug please ?

probably the power supply, i had to switch my power suply too, bough a knockoff chinese one for like 8$ and the wii is going strong lol.

If you were powering it with the same power adapter as the previous Wii, it could be faulty. If you are using a new power adapter then it could be something else..

What's this "reset the brick" thing?

thought about buying a new power source.

If you don't have another one to test with, and /or you were using the same one that was giving issues with the older Wii, then it's most likely the culprit.

Obviously the power brick. Just spend $20 and replace it.
less likely is a faulty power outlet but you can test that with a night light etc

It was just a replacement console so still using the same brick.

The reset the brick is just unplugging it from the wall and the wii and leaving it for 2,5,10 minutes or all day, apparently it resets something inside it

Fans are spinning fine on both wiis and I’ve tried going straight from a wall socket.
The thing is it has worked perfectly well in the position it’s in for years, the all of a sudden it turns itself off.

I think all it does is discharge the capacitors, but the capacitors are actually faulty, it won't help. I'm not sure about the technicalities of why it helps sometimes. My first laptop did something like that, where sometimes it would power off and I couldn't power it back on without removing and reinserting the battery. I have no explanation of why though.
Anyway, I think we've narrowed it down to be your power adapter, it couldn't really be anything else if it's the only thing that was plugged into both Wiis (assuming you don't have any USB devices that you used with both, but that's a less likely culprit anyway)
I don't really recommend 3rd party power adapters as they are usually cheaply made and may have their own issues, but getting a 1st party one nowadays might be hard.

Yes you only get second hand ones which are as old as the one I’m using.
Bit of an update, some games will continue to play for ages, wii sports goes on for ages, super mario and mario kart goes off pretty much straight away

If this happened to your last Wii, the fault is probably in your home's electricity system, not the Wii.

Bought a new (not official) power supply brick and it’s working perfectly, cheers for your help

Have you tried hooking the power adapter with your other Wii? To make sure it's not the power brick failing again?
Though, i think it's hardware problem inside the system, something like a fuse..
Btw, does standby (red) led stays when you plug in the power adapter? Does it show green when you power it? And when it turns off, does it go back to standby mode or no light at all?

The common component is the power outlet.
Have you tried this with different outlets? Test an outlet as far away as possible from the original outlet.

Do you have a high amperage device that cycles automatically? (AC, heater, freezer, water/air pump, any compressor, etc)

If you do, it could be drawing too much power and the Wii is experiencing a "brown out".
This would make sense because the Wii/PowerBrick aren't dying, just turning off intermittently
