Gaming Wii system serials?

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a new Wii soon so I can softmod it and enjoy it with the family. Which serials am I looking for if I want to play burnt-DVDs, homebrew, and USBLoader? And which serials should I avoid?

Been outta the scene for a while, since I got my Ps3 in April... Does the Wii system firmware matter anymore when looking to softmodding it?

The lower the Serial, the more chance it can read dvd backups

But even the serial can't guarantee you that you won't have a new drive
And black wii's ALWAYS have the new drive

    i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

    Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
