Hacking Wii Sys Updating & USBLoaderGX

First question.

If i update the Wii's firmware from the system. Does it lock
up homebrew if im on a softmodded 4.1u and have the homebrew
channel and all that?


2nd question.

when playing a game on USBLoaderGX. then going to system
menu and picking out another game from the HDD. The entire
Wii freezes.... why does it do that?

Humm i remember that one of the CIOS was plaged with that maybe update your CIOS ..
to rev 19 that is if thats the issue.

1. It will wipe cIOS, the Homebrew Channel if you have the old version, and bootmii from your Wii.
2. Many games do that. In my experience it's benn generally happening with PAL games, but it happens with some NTSC games too.

ok ok i guess i'll always have to search out the hack firmwares then which can be a pain
in the a$$. the main thing i had wanted was being able to get into the wii store.

haha this one is funny. i was able to snag cios installer rev 19 from somewhere using google.
the funny part is now my wii doesn't detect any usb devices at all! awesome!

ok ok i'm not blaming anyone for this. its just abit unexpected. we are all taking risks when
we're using unlicensed software here. so still thanks... for all i know my hdd might only need to
be reformatted and the new cios might actually fix the system from freezing upon entering a
new game.


i'll reformat my external now and see if it works, wish me luck.

1. I think that if you update the shop channel with dop mii you can acess it. That is what I did because I am on 4.1u and it wanted me to go to 4.2u.

are the older usbloaderGX not compat with cios rev 19??

goes. there's 2 games i really want to buy from the wii shop
cave story and megaman 10 so can't wait to try it out.

update:

i went to the official usbloader site got the latest one. deleted everything off
the external, rereformated, put just one game. annnnnd it detected the hdd
this time. yay! buuuuuut... as soon as you click on the game. freeze.. system
lock up..

im gonna now test an actual game i own and try to rip it onto the hdd. maybe
all my iso's were corrupt.. i dunno what else to try except for that..

its back to not detecting the external... it only made it once through and the entire system
froze..

this is the only external hdd i have atm and i mean it works on my pc. detects
and everything. im able to partition it. so i dont think the external is the issue.

im stuck... i think it has something to do with rev 19.. but really its anyones guess at
this point.

i don't know what else to do..

all i need to figure out now is how to make the hdd work.
i found another laptop hdd to switch out on my external and
i get the same thing. it has do with something with cios......

i'll try reinstalling older cios and see what happens...

ah one last thing. when i was updating the cios on dop mii before i left out that my homebrew channel is now upside down..

thanks to gogetas and his hermes v4 suggestion i have my games working off my hdd again. can someone help out with
the upside down homebrew thing? this most likely will be the last thing i'll ask for help on this thread.

yeah the hermes v4 and uloader works great except some pal games
like resident evil remake wouldn't load but i cant complain. at least the
majority is working again.

now the thing im trying to fix is getting my homebrew channel rightside
up.... i dunno why or what cios would cause that.. i didn't see any disclaimer
on any of the updates that say it would have that effect... so im very lost
on why that happened.

ok i've been googling abit on the upside down homebrew channel.

i've downloaded NUSD. checked the ios my homebrew channel is
using which is IOS61 v21.29. this is what i get when i start NUS and
try to pack it into a wad.
