Hey Tempers,
I've been away from the Wii scene for a while (stepped away to take a look at Xbox and PS3 scene development and college).
But I started playing my Wii again, and decided to keep it up to date.

Therefore, I was wondering can someone just give me a quick update on what's happened/been happening since I left?

I do not remember when the last time I put my Wii back up to date, but here are my specs:
Wii (USA)
Version 3.2U
D2C Drive
D2Pro soldered on
Homebrew Channel 1.01 installed

Is it possible to play newer games? How about playing them online? Also, can I finally update to higher versions of the Wii or anything on it?
Anything I may want to download (all recommendations are welcome)?

MUCH Thanks =D

In order to launch the newest games with the disc channel, you need to update your IOS files. You can do that by following the guide linked below or using ModMii. The system menu version really doesn't matter unless you care about playing VC/WiiWare games off your SD card or having SDHC support. 4.1 is the latest version of the system menu that isn't just homebrew prevention; it uses IOS60.

Many homebrew applications require that you use version 1.0.8 of the Homebrew Channel and have IOS58 installed. The guide below and ModMii will install IOS58 automatically if you are updating your IOS files.

If you are wanting to use NeoGamma or a USB loader, then all that matters is your cIOS. Using base 56 is recommended for IOS249.

If you want to update your Wii the normal way via a network connection, you may do so. However, you will want to have version 1.0.8 of the Homebrew Channel installed. Anything less than 1.0.7 will be deleted by the update. You will also need to reinstall just about any cIOS you use, if any.

Playing games online is just fine no matter what you're using, as long as you're not cheating anyway.
