Hi all! I posted already without the Hacking tag and didn't get much feedback. It seems this tag may help this post reach people who could provide more help.

I just recently got into modding my childhood Wii. I followed wii.hacks.guide the whole way through, installed USB Loader GX, and backed up all of the game discs that I own. Now, I want to keep my Wii NAND as close as it was to before modding it just to not flood it with games and saves when my brother decides to use it.

So, I pretty much want to run everything through USB Loader GX with a fresh emuNAND. When games are launched from USB Loader GX, only my saves and Miis are on it, but inserting a disc and running like normal from the Wii Home Screen is like it was never modded in game.

I have an SD card with all the base programs installed and I have a 1TB hard drive plugged into the correct USB port on the back of the Wii that holds all of my games.

I’ve created a hdd:/nand folder and set it as my path for both Emu Saves Path and Emu Channels Path. I set both Emu Saves and Emu Channels to FULL. I then dumped my Wii’s NAND to the emuNAND through USB Loader GX. Adjusting the filters for the emuNAND channels to show, it was evident that all of the WADs that were on my Wii’s NAND were now on my emuNAND, perfect everything looks great.

I went into Save Manager GX and enabled everything to look at the emuNAND and deleted all saves and all Miis off of it, thinking this leaves a clean NAND essentially.

I tried to then launch my backed up Wii games and it seems to only read saves from the Wii’s NAND, not the emuNAND. I’ve tried creating and deleting saves in different Wii games when launching through USB Loader GX and from the disc channel. It seems everything that is done is also done on the other, thus my games are still using the Wii’s NAND.

I have no idea how to fix this after messing around with it a lot. It makes me think this is a bug on USB Loader GX because the WADs from my Wii appear to live on and launch from the emuNAND after dumping. Only game saves aren’t reading off the emuNAND.

I’ve tried to find help on the internet but I can’t seem to find anything. I just would like to get USB Loader GX’s emuNAND to work with game saves properly like it does with WADs/WiiWare games. Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

TL;DR: I dumped my NAND to emuNAND using USB Loader GX and it only appears to work for WADs/WiiWare games. All of my backed up games still use game saves from my Wii’s NAND. I’d like to get USB Loader GX’s emuNAND to properly work with game saves as well.

UPDATE: I figured out what the issue was. The issue seems to be trying to use an emuNAND on my USB device. I dumped my Wii's NAND using USB Loader GX to the default path (sd:/nand/01) and it works flawlessly now. Wii Saves are now loading from the newly created emuNAND
