Hacking Wii Help cIOS and HDD

I know this tony guy is trying to be helpful but his post are just plain confusing!!!

I remember with Wii Sports Resort you had to use the alternate dol method the first time you played it, so you could watch the Wii Motion Plus video (compulsory). After you have watched the video you would switch alternate dol off and load the game as normal.

But AFAIK the original Wii Sports worked fine without any special measures, it should do anyway, It was the main launch title for the wii so its probably the oldest wii game out there.

I will read your original post and see what the problem u were having was and see if i can help in any way at all.

EDIT: Have you tried using another loader besides Usb Loader GX? Try adding CFG Usb Loader to your SD card apps folder and try running Wii Sports with that and see how yo get on.

Alright so after looking around I actually found help on these forums.

Basically what I did was having to re install d2x base56 v8 for slot249 using the original d2x-cios-installer-3.1 instead of wad manager. I then deleted my game in my USB (Fat32 partition). I re installed Wii Sports and now it works!

v8 is an old version of that cIOS, why niot install the latest version if you were gonna reinstall? I have the latest and wii sports runs absolutely perfectly.

I use v8 because its more stable. With v10 I get many game freezes. So I have v10 on many slots but on slot 249 I always use v8. Personal preference.

Ive never had any game freezes that were not caused by ocarina codes...... I have 2TB Usb hard drive with a shitload of games and they all play fine.

I will confirm that I actually see improvement playing Wii Sports through d2x-v10-beta52. Where as I saw game play freezes with Version 8 of d2x-v8-final with Wii Sports

Quick question: What does NAND emulation mean really?
"beta52- Has better support for NAND emulation (eg. loading Virtual Console/WiiWare from a virtual NAND), but handles only 1 USB port (so try both) and lacks support for plug-and-play (USB needs to be connected before starting the USB loader) - (From the cIOS Instalation guide on Google.)"

I see its is better to use VC games through this and WiiWare games, but does it also include Homebrew Emulators? Was just playing a 4 player battle on SuperBomberman 2 and the game frooze after a few games. Anyway maybe I just got a bad rom.

NAND emulation is used for playing wiiware and vc games from an virtual nand placed on ur usb hard drive;, this way there is no limit to the size of your nand, while ur wii only has a certain size nand that can quickly get filled up with gamesaves and any wiiware and vc that is installed, through legit channels or as a wad file.

That is the only reason most people use nand emulation.

Like I said, personal preference. I have never used ocarina codes. Have 1.5 TB drive with a shitload of games and never had a freeze. Now when I installed v10, had freezes on all Lego games, especially Lego Batman 2 (worst of all), but had freezes on lots of other games too, so went back to v8. But slightly off topic....

He is trying to play Wii Sports NOT Wii Sports Resort!! And if you would read the above posts properly i believe he has got it fixed already!

I helped him over PM so im pretty sure its fixed
