I can confirm. Backups are working fine. However, USB keyboard still doesn't work in internet channel, have no clue who said that it did.

Second, what I feel like is different is the IR in the pointer, it seems somewhat smoother and more precise now.

1.3 Config disc still seems to be working fine.

I grew some balls and I can confirm that people with dual channels can update their Wii safely. All channels work, doesn't stop backup wii games, including region converted backups. BTW, I could only update internet channel but not vote channel. Servers must be busy

So it seems safe to update. Still I'm going to wait. Perhaps Nintendo has hidden some kind of mongolian trojan horse in the new firmware.

Wii Sports working fine, So are backups, so is the shop channel, internet and everybody votes channel too.

Current Modchips are DVD-Drive hacks, so firmware is highly unlikely to stop games from working. Thought everyone knew this?!

Only way for them to see if you are playing pirate games is from your gamesaves, why would a PAL user have Japanese or USA saves... but then for them to check, is a violation of privacy, etc.

Their best bet is to change the encoding on games so stops (for a while) people dumping them, but to be honest, the wii has sold over 11million, only maybe 10% of people have it chipped, Nintendo seriously do not worry about it, they are making plenty of profit now, they are back at #1 where they belong, thats all that matters to them. Games are still being sold, i know plenty of people happy to buy a game every few months, they enjoy it more that way.

I did the metroid 15% update.. Wiinja Deluxe, Firmware 3.0E. Updated to 3.1E and everything is working, backups, originals and all channels

the usb keyboard should work for everything. After you download the 3.1 update, you head to the WiiWare area on shopping channel and do a software update on Internet Channel. Make sure you see mario run across the screeen with coins, if it just does it instantly, it didn't work. After you update, it should work in internet channel now too

I read the message nintendo sent to the Wii, one of them said they updated the Terms of use and give an url.
The URL says "last updated: 08.12.2006", so what did/will they change ?

thats why you turn wiiconnect 24 off. I have mine set to connect to my wireless only when i turn the wii on to play... i didnt like the thought of people sending files to my system when i didnt acknowledge the transfer. especially not knowing when the next update would happen, or what it consisted of.

In the same article, they are saying they can change the console functionalities to block anything if they want, like they already did with the firmware 3.0 and blocking action replay, freeloader etc..
Many people don't care about the data nintendo can see (I'm part of them).

Anyway, I only wanted to know what is in the new terms of use, what did they feels the need to add or change.
I will check when the new terms will be online, just curious
