Hacking Wii DVD Dumper v1.2 released

Okay, I am understanding how to use the DVD Dumper.

What I am not understanding is how to load the Custom IOS (IOS249)? Where can I get it as well?

just want to make sure. i can dump my wii games to a usb correct? i plan on making back ups of my games with a 8gb usb

You can but it will be in several parts cause FAT is limited to 4 gb per file

Okay, new to this as I just tried it yesterday. I get an error (not the ret -XXX type).

From memory, it asks for SD/USB or WiFi, I chose SD/USB.
Then asks for slit size, I chose 3800MB (or 3400? It was a nice round number.)
Asks to insert game, I do and it mounts it.
Asks to insert SD/USB, I do and says "Error... Restarting".

I read through all 14 pages and saw that I need to insert the USB when it asks. I will give this a go.

I spose my main question is, how can you use a 4 or 8G SD card if it doesn't support SDHC (DVD Dumper V1.2 that is, not the HBC. I also read that out of the 14 pages

)?? I have a 4G SDHC card.

I'm also surprised to read that WiFi is faster than SD/USB... HOW?!?!

My spces:
3.2E PAL (have updated to 3.4, then down to 3.2E. Also to 3.3 back to 3.2 again)
cIOS36 rev8
HBC 1.0.1

I don't see an option to dump over wifi...
When I try to dump to my sd card (sandisk 1 gb) I select a split size and let it dump SSBB01.iso Then I copy/paste it to my comp and try to reinsert the sd card (as told) It then says sd card mount error and resets my wii :-/

I can't get past part 1 ever ;_;


I have system menu 3.2 as well as cios36 rev 8

Update:

Okay, I tried a few things. Different split sizes, USB and SD, inserting the device only when asked and I still get an error when it tried to mount.

Also, when I choose WiFi I get a -10056 (or something like that) after it gives the the Wii's IP address.

Any one else had this?

My Specs:
3.2E PAL (have updated to 3.4, then down to 3.2E. Also to 3.3 back to 3.2 again)
cIOS36 rev8
HBC 1.0.1

Should I try the cIOS37 rev3? From memory last time it wouldn't let me install it. Get a ret -1 error after it finds the WAD.

I know your problem well. The dumper does not support SD cards larger than 2GB, so no go with your SDHC card. Put a 1GB or 2GB card in and you will see. This unfortunately means splitting the file, I use 1536MB (from memory) so it takes 2 swaps (3 in total).

As an aside I've also tried ver 1.3 of the Dumper and I can't get that to work at all so I suggest sticking with 1.2

Ah ha, so no go with the SDHC. Why does it offer an 8G split then? Oh well. Still doesn't explain the USB error.

Ihave a 1 gig and I still get the sd mount error on the 2nd sd mount...I don't know what too call it

Can only suggest you reformat your SD card(s), easily done on your PC (leave 'Quick format' un-ticked) and its the FAT format, not FAT32 or NTFS

This fixed the only errors I've had (I've turned off the power to the Wii while it was dumping, left file/allocation errors on the card that were not visible)

well someone told me to use wii dumper 1.2 instead of wii dumper so now when I even start to dump sd/usb I get dsi error occurred and a code dump


maybe I should look for the old dumper I had (hope I can remember)


EDIT: Sorry I thought I said all my sd cards are formatted to FAT

I haven't even been able to test my backup launcher... I hope I don't have as many problems with that after my dumper

Update.

Okay, I still haven't got this working. But prob doesn't matter seeing as this new USB loader has come out.

I've tried:

Micro SD 4G, no brand non-SDHC in FAT & FAT32
Micro SD 4G, SanDisk SDHC in FAT & FAT32
SD 4G, cheap brand SDHC in FAT & FAT32.

I'll try a Micro SD 2G SanDisk I got today.

it takes a bit of a long time with Sc card and USB always die about 10% the best choice is wifi and use firefox and when it ask you to save download it with orbit cause it only took me 1 hour with zelda 4.38 gig i have lynksys and usb internet hook up

Yeah, the only time I've had this work for me was when I ripped SSBM via WiFi. Fortunately the USB Loader is there for Wii games, though this is still good for making GCN ISO's

I have sucsessfully dumped splinter cell then burned (4x) on verbatim. but the wii goes to black screen. I have straight burned, brick blocked and burned and also used back up creator and burned all with the same result. has anyone else had same problems? also can anyone confirm wether dumped and burned games are playable on a soft mod wii or do they need to be hard chipped? slowly beginning to lose faith in my abilities, wich wern't very good to begin with.

Use either FAT16 or FAT32 for dumpers. Only if you dump via any USB Loader, you need to format to WBFS.
Dumping to one file is not possible on FAT devices, because FAT doesn't support file bigger than 4 GB.

Not to mention that there's pretty much no reason to use this over a USB Loader. The dumping process is a million times faster than with this.

At least SuperDump is almost as fast as a USB Loader.
If you want to burn your backup, you could be faster with the dumper, cause you don't have to get the ISO out of the WBFS drive.
