I have searched a couple of threads but no one seems to have an answer.

Can you use a USB drive to dump a single or dual layer DVD? considering most drives are Fat16 and won't support files over 4GB.

does the wii dumper support NTFS and has anyone done it?

I have used it via wifi but it is extreemly slow. 540k max. would USB be faster?

Thanks

usb or sd would be faster cuz they are a more direct transfer.
i know pen drives work i have yet to get my portable hard drive to though.
i think Wii Dumper 1.2 only supports fat 16 and fat 32.

The only truly fast usb transfer or dump of a game I feel can be done with the USBGecko device!
And software available at: http://usbgecko.com/

It will allow you to dump the games to your windows-pc via usb 2.0!
GameCube games take about 35 Minutes, Wii Games about 2 hours, so its pretty quick!.
The softwares name is: USB Gecko Wii Mode Ripper By MonkeyKF
And is available at the fist link above on the download page.

Any other qustions feel free to ask.... but remember google.com is your friend.....,

I'm not sure and somone here please correct me if I am wrong but if your using waninkoko's cIOS36_rev7 w/ Wii DVD Dumper (Custom IOS) v1.2 it only supports fat16 not fat32 for usb drives as for what port it does not matter!

I've been pondering this for awhile. Wii USB ports even though capped at USB 1.1 speeds should effectively still be faster than Wifi and SD. USB 1.1 has a max transfer rate of 12Mbits/s (1.5 MB/s) so effectively 90 MB per minute. Which means in theory if this were to happen it should take approximately 50 mins to transfer a 4.37GB (4474.88 MB) Wii game. But does the wii just use slower data transfer rates as the ports were designed for just keyboards and reading image files of flash drives.

Anywho if i have a 4GB pen drive formatted to Fat 16 or 32, can i dump a portion of it like (like the majority of the data onto the 4GB pen drive) then insert another flash drive to get the rest of the data. And then just copy /b filename.iso . Or does it all have to go onto the flashdrive at once in which a bigger flash drive would be required but it seems people can't get it working with an 8Gb one which makes the whole USB function of Wii Dumper 1.2 useless as it cannot be used.

The wii Ethernet usb hub connected to network any faster than using just the USB to device. and you think a Crossover network cable would work with the wii?
