did the cIOS install have any errors when you installed it ?

No, no errors. This is the screen that did the 1/15 updates or something like that. It worked fine. I changed the book type to - R, but still the DVD_r gave me the error.

I think I am going to try the verbatum dvd-r & see what happens. So just to make sure the 3.1U is okay for only playing games.

PS - is there a thread to show what Wii games have updates on the disc. I searched & only found Super Smash had one.

Yes try a -R disc - if that fails try it on someone elses DVD Writer as your writer may also be the issue.
3.1 is fine for playing games - i 'updated' 15 wii's last week all on that firmware and all play perfectly.

Someone was talking about a thread like that , but im not sure if it was ever done. I think Mario Kart has 3.2 on it.

I've been using gamma and I wanted to play a backup of skate, and big brain and both wont work... Skate will load, but say it isn't a valid disk and for brain academy I get a green screen. I tried to run both with the hooks enabled and I get the images in the channel screen but when I go to boot, I get a invalid disk message..
Any ideas??

3.3U

Are these games from a different region than your wii? I'm not sure why you're getting an invalid disc error if you're loading from the backup launcher..

Are you using DVD+R or Rewritables ?

Any errors when installing the cIOS ?

Did your wii update AFTER you installed the gamma hack ?

I have Lego Indiana Jones burnt as a backup and the first time I inserted and loaded it [in 0.3 gamma]... no problems... game played great! The second time I loaded it, it booted to the game menu like the first time, but while I was chatting online [letting the menu play through as I wasnt ready to play yet {and I was digging the Indiana Jones theme

}] the game glitched (music and screen froze). I had to power off the wii holding in the power button... When I tried to boot up the game again, it flashes green [normal], but never actually boots the game... just a black screen. Does anyone know what could be happening for this not to boot the game as it did before... I mean it booted and played great prior to the game freezing. I could see if it would load and freeze at the same spot, but that isnt the case here. Any help would be appreciated. And I also tried to force boot NTSC in 0.3 gamma and also both boot normally and force boot NTSC in 0.1, but same issue no matter what.

And I can play my other backups no problem, its just this one and only after it glitched. Also note I do not have the iso file any longer so burning another copy is not an immediate possibility. Thanks anyone who helps me with this in advance.

I'm guessing a bad burn.

Hey guys I did the twilight hack and installed the homebrew channel and everything. Can I just back NTSC games or can I play PAL games as well?

You can search and then find you can play both.

It cant be though cuz it worked fine. Thats why I posted the question here. If it was a bad burn then it would have never worked. Was hoping djtaz or possibly wiigator would respond.

Bad burn, bad media.

zero, you already replied and said the same thing so why respond again with nothing new? The media I am using is the same I've used for all my previous backups and not a single coaster so far. A bad burn/media would never work in the first place. So I have to disagree with you and your theory. I want to know how it would work perfectly if bad media and bad burn were the case. Just doesnt seem likely. I am curious if there's something with the backup loader/launcher and game id. Does the launcher cache game id's or other info? Is there something I can try like re-installing everything again to clear any data stored [if it does indeed do such a thing]?

I added bad media to my answer. It's fine to disagree with me, we'll just wait until someone comes up with something you will agree with.

Are we able to burn games onto DVD-RW's? and can we use a program like Nero 7 to burn these Games?

@djtaz
The media is -r, the wii it hasn't updated and all the ISO installed fine. I have seen a few that I don't have... What ISO does are you using??
I just check and big brain is a PAL...
I got skate to work but still no luck with brain academy...

1) Dvd-Rw is bad for your wii lens and probably doesn't work half the time so just pick up some Dvd-r.

2) Get ImgBurn.

If one works and another doesnt its a bad burn or something to do with the discs or dvd writer - the wii side of things is fine.

Zerof is correct here (as usual) - it sounds like the media may be corrupt.
DVD-r Discs are written onto a dye on the disc - think of it like a jelly with bits taken out of it - if the disc overheated while in the wii (which can happen) it may have corrupted the integrity of the disc.
Usually this resolves itself if the disc settles again after a few hours , but on some discs it doesnt.

On the cheaper discs this is more likely to happen and the only resolution is to try to reburn it to another disc or even in extremem cases to re-downlo....erm back it up.

Just get another copy and try it - the wii doesnt cache any of the id info and if the loader is working on other games then its not a loader issue.
Some games also freeze after you get to a certain point , but i dont think this is your issue.
