It's all about what they're made of, usually the best cables won't be from the company that made the device they are for, but in this case Nintendo's probably are better, because of it isn't a straight cable connection. I got the nintendo one and I find it amazing, haven't seen a third party one as I generally stay away from anything third party unless I've used it and I like it...

are the nintendo cables really any better?

I have the joytech component cables. They seem fine, but overal I think my wii looked a lot better on my old 28" crt with a RGB scart cable compared with my 40" lcd with component.

They arnt, iv got dealxtreme's "justworks" brand for 6US and work the same as my mates 40US ones.

I have Nintendo Component Cables; can't say about third-party ones. Keep in mind, however, that not all component-ready TVs can display progressive-scan (old ones don't). That's the case with mine, but I still noticed a picture quality improvement.

Guys, I have a question. Most Gamecube games, when played on the Wii, will ask me if I want to display in 480p. However, some games such as Jedi Outcast and Spiderman 2 won't ask me.. Do those games support 480p, or does it just automatically set it to that?

Well the Nintendo cables were like $35 at Gamestop, so no thanks.

If you haven't played wii games on 480p. You are missing out. I bought my cables used at EBGames for like $9.

BTW you will get the best results on a HD CRT TV if you happen to have one or if you can get a hold of one of those. I lucked out. I got a HD CRT Sony Wega TV and damn, everything looks amazing. It beats my HD LCD TV in picture. I only wish I could have got a widescreen HD CRT Sony Wega.

I can still do 16:9 but you get the lines on the top and bottom of the screen that you normally get on a 4:3 TV.

But yeah the Wii looks amazing on the Sony Wega KV-32HS420, Xbox 360 looks amazing too at 1080i.
