I've reinstalled the clip again. This time I just pushed it on the D2C chip until it sounded "click" then I screw the DVD-rom as ustinov's suggestion. It works again!

I've installed the Wii Clip (with d2ckey), and it works - but only if the Wii case is 'loose'.

Sometimes it can work with the front on, but most of the time that will stop it working, and at some point it was working with the side screws in, but now even that fails - I now play with the case on (held by a single side screw) but front off (classy...

)

[I have taken the case apart many times and can even provoke the failure by tightening the DVD drives 4 mounting screws really tight, a quarter turn looser will prompt it to work again, and have made sure there is no shorting when the drive presses on the clip by using the cut out and sticker on underside (have also tried without these...) tried a bit of padding under the chip extension board too, none of this seems to make a difference]

I'm thinking its either a bending of the chip extension board or the clip getting gently prised off when the drive presses on it at a certain pressure/direction. Is the fact that a small(ish) quarter screw turn can be the difference between it working and failing any indication of the nature of the problem?

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to solve it?

Hi There,

Just to update you guys on the status of my Wii-clip installation.
After 5 weeks of moderate use it still works great.
Just to give an indication on how much I played: I've replaced the batteries in my Wiimote twice.

I'm very pleased with my Wii-Clip so far.

Cheers.

no its not upside down, he lightscribed the disc

I know its off topic, but I've been thinking about getting a lightscribe dvd drive to title all my disks. ( I hate the look of a blank disk with
sharpie all over it lol). But I've read in a few places that the lightscribed image fades after a while, can anyone comfirm or bust this?

I'm gonna get me a chip, and I guess I'll go with a clip(after reading this entire thread). Looks like it's the simple way to do it.

Never had that problem personally and I've had one since their release to press:) I have discs over...erm god, 5 or more years old? Ones with my son as a baby printed on the top and they're fine:)

Edit: I also ordered a d2pro solderless clip from OZmodchip, hopefully I'll get it by next week. I'll post how the install and
everything else goes.

Greets everyone...

I was wondering there is a local dealer here who i contacted for buying a wiikey 2 with a wii clip. He asked for my serial and then e-mailed me that i had to get a wiikey 1 because i have a DMS chip. So i checked a other site and there the specs say that the Wiikey 2 is DMS compatible...What should i do? I would think that a updated version is always beter right?

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
