"The usual messages about WADs, “backups”, and all that crap are going straight to /dev/null, and we’re seeing quite a few bans due to piracy on #wiidev recently." Do they mean Wii bans or banning people from their irc channel cause they said something about piracy?

Don't ever bring up anything piracy related to those people, It's not their thing. They do allow you to hang around and learn something but will kick and ban you if you ask them anything to do with wads, Iso's, backup loaders or anything of the such. Respect their wishes and talk to other people about those such things.

Every community is about respect really - as long as you learn how they do things and stick to the way they do things you will be ok - there are always other places online if their way of doing things dont suit your needs , but always have respect.
