Hacking Wii backup Manager for Windows

In current version, can't it output wbfs files to drive C converting ISOs anymore ?

You can convert ISO to .wbfs on any drive. You have the option to transfer to single .wbfs on the files page or you can mount the drive and transfer to it that way.

Files page->Transfer->.wbfs
or
Files page->transfer->Drive 1 (with the C drive mounted in the drive 1 page)

- chose tools->format drives again
- no alert box, drive list is populated.

Error reoccurs on every restart of the application.

what operating system are you using ?
what drives do you have ?
could you please describe your installation.
I can't seem to replicate this issue.

did you do anything before trying to format ?

windows xp pro sp3
drives currently mounted: C,D (local harddisks), E,F (local dvd drives) G (daemon tools emulated dvd drive), X (local harddisk via truecrypt mount), Y,Z (network drives)

normally i also have H (usb partition), W (usb partition via truecrypt mount) and sometimes V (Truecrypt File Container)

edit: didn't read your last two questions:
i suppose with installation you mean the backup manager: error occurred when i started it right out of the archive (so it gets started from winrar temp folder) and also when i copied the exe to the desktop. I didn't even try to format, i was just clicking through the options to see what changed in this version , but the error occurres once on every start, no matter what i do (or not) before clicking format.

edit2: just tried copying the exe to the install folder of the previous version - when i selected format there was no alert box but the list was empty. i discovered this was because i had the 'usb drives only' setting in my ini. after changing the setting with the settings dialog and selecting format again, the alert box came back and the list was still empty. selecting format again - no alert box this time, list correctly populated with all my drives. so far nothing new. but now i changed the 'usb drive only' setting again (is set to true now) and on opening the format dialog there was no alert box but the list was still populated with the (non-usb) drives. the drives continue to be displayed until i restart the program, then the list's empty again.

with that many drives and virtual drives... i think i would be shocked if it worked for you right off the bat, lol

Does it also happen the first time you click on "Drive" on one of the drive pages (when the app first starts)? It's the same code that's causing that. I fill the drive/volume list the first time you click on that or show the format dialog.

wow... that's a mixed setup.

oh wow missed 3 posts while editing my last one^^ (be sure to read the edit2, there's another strange thing)

@fig2k4: yes the alert box also pops up when i try to select a drive on one of the "drive" tabs. Here it doesn't come only once, but everytime i click the button. So i can't select a drive .

Just saw another interesting thing: As mentioned the format dialog gives the alert on the first try and not on the second: but the drive list shown on the second try contains my X: drive twice, both times showing the correct capacity. additionally to that i have a 'HarddiskVolume3' with 0.00GB. This might be the Truecrypted harddisk? But why 0.00GB?

The alert box continues to pop up from the drive menu after i opened the format dialog n times

edit: if necessary i can give a more complete description of my harddisks.

It sounds like FindFirstVolume(), FindNextVolume() are returning your x drive twice for some reason.. Since they're the same drive, it should be safe to ignore the duplicate. Can you try this?

Edit2:
Since you hadn't downloaded it, here's the real fix. It should work with this.

It'll show as 0.00GB if it's inaccessible at the time, if it's locked or in use by something else.

I think I've found the real problem, but the workaround above should still be OK. I'll be using the duplicate check as well as what I think is the real fix, just in case.

I reproduced the problem very easily if you want to test it and debug it..

install truecrypt
create a volume (encrypted file container)
mount the volume to a drive.
now run your application... try the format... works.
exit your application.
dismount the volume
run your application... try the format... error.
exit your application.
mount the volume
run your application... try the format... works.

could you please tell us if you have any umounted truecrypt volume ?


two extra information :
1. when I get the error on the format, simply re-trying (without closing your app), works !
2. the drive selection never works...

your workaround seems to work smoothly.

1) yes, the fix works, but still shows this 0.00Gb drive.
2) yes, i mounted the crypted partition of the usb drive earlyer this day, but i unmounted the disk, and it's currently not connected to the computer.

could you do me a favor ?
could you try mounting the drive and running test both version of fig2k4 app ?
and then dismount the drive. reboot the computer.. and tell us if prior to any dismount operation you are having any problem ?

yup.. I have to agree with you. fig2k4 did an amazing work.

for the people to realize how far he worked here are a few test I did :

1. mass copying 200+ games to a wbfs drive.. no prob

2. mass copying 200+ games to wbfs files.. no prob

3. copying 70 games at the same time on two different fat drives... 50 games were identical for both drives..

4. copying 50 games at the same time on one wbfs drive and one fat drive... the 50 games were identical for both drives..

5. ripped a burned DVD
- rip with cfg loader (v48) to wbfs file
- rip with wii backup manager to wbfs file
--- files identical
- convert the cfg rip to iso with wbfs_file.exe
- rip with wii backup manager to iso
--- files identical
- convert cfg iso file to ciso using wbfs_hermes.exe
- convert your resulting wbfs file to ciso with your wii backup manager
- convert your resulting iso file to ciso with your wii backup manager
--- all three files are identical.

6. and a really fun one :
- files tab: 1 folder full of iso opened
- drive 1 : one fat32 formatted drive
- drive 2 : one wbfs formatted drive
--- and at the same time I launched :
- transfer an iso to drive 1
- transfer a game from drive 1 to drive 2
- transfer from drive 2 to a ciso file in the iso folder
and... it worked flawlessly.. the thread really does it.

and ssssooo much more testing.

the transfer/convert part is currently the most complete I have seen amongst all wbfs managers...
