Hacking Wii backup loader......looks real!

Either you are trying to scare people, or this hack does something more than just loading the iso and we are not informed about that.

Uh, using unfinished and untested software that runs unauthorised code on your console is always going to carry a risk of either not working properly or screwing something up.

Well, it shouldn't have any long-term effects if it doesn't save/change anything in your wii (cios is just installed as another ios, dvdx doesn't modify existing ioses either). If it does, well, somebody have to examine the loader (looks at IDA pro icon).

Anyway i dont really care i got my modchip and been able to boot my backups in nearly a year now. And with a modchip i dont have to go into HBC and such. And have the highest compitability.

Anyway nice news for users without modchips or the balls to install one.

Make sure you have all things installed (cios+dvdx) first so we won't be seeking the problem for nothing.

Installed CIOS that comes with downloader.

Then when i try to install dvdx by advanced settings the only option I have is IOS36, there is no IOS249 ??????

my ntsc -usa is not chipped and homebrew enabled

1) installed the wad file "CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad" using wad manager

2) istalled divx -> advanced -> ios 249

3) executed from homebrew channel -> iso loader but then this 4100 sumthing error

PS : I used verbatim normal dvd ,burned smg on it @ 16x using img burn(patched it with the backup creator ,copied smg.iso in a folder which contained 2 files backup-creator.exe and common-key)

Well, I also get a green screen trying to boot up a NTSC-J game on my PAL Wii. There are no errors during the booting process, but the video mode is not set correctly. I've tried all 3 cables I had (composite, RGB and component), it never worked.

The actual loader looks very promising, though. Since this is an unofficial beta, this was to be expected. Keep it up, Waninkoko!

sonic and the secret rings ntsc (rsre) does not work. i burned at 2.4x on a memorex dvd+r.
it loads, and i see the warning screen, followed by the sega logo, but then it crashes on a fire loading screen.

to those getting error -4100: make sure you put the disc in the right way, i made this mistake the first time for some reason. the purple part goes towards the sd slot/power button.

kinda irritated since we're so close, wish there was something i could do more to fix it. i hope super mario galaxy (ntsc) and pokemon battle revolution (ntsc) don't have any major glitches.

edit: i have an ntsc wii, 3.3E firmware, regular cables going to hdtv (magnavox).

Make sure you are burning partition.iso (this may sounds dumb but yeah, worth to check).

Used latest wad manager (1.21 or something)?

Tried another games? Tried burning on lower speed?

This loader will be probably dvd-wasting-fest, but it's still fun

Hello there,

i always become the message:

Could not open disc subsystem!

???

What i`ve done:

installed CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad with the cIOS Installer
After that installed DVDx on IOS249

Then i go on my SD Card in APPS and maked a folder: Wii Backuploader
I putted the dvd-backup.dol in there and renamed it to boot.dol

Then i started the app but always this message occurs:
Could not open disc subsystem!

Whts wrong here.. i have NO Disc in the Wii because somebodys writing:

FOURTH
load the Backup Loader, THEN place your disc in the drive when prompted.


So where is the Problem here?

try burning it slower, ive tried everything with no luck. wich version is ur firmware?

Even after installing CIOS you WILL HAVE offical IOSes installed, it's just an addition to what you have on console.

Well I burned partition.iso only(I am not a noob got some vast experience of various scenes)
my wad manager wasnt the latest ,i guess its 1.0
only tried smg on a rewritable verbatim dvd @ 4x and verbatim normal dvd @16x ,both gave me same results -4100 error ,and I use both of these with no probs with all the wii games
Probably ,the loader is still not ready ,its just a hype but the youtube video shows that its working.

and I saw sum1 posted that he installed the CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042.wad file using cios installer ,I dont undstand how because it uses the file on the root of the micro sd card ,

It's an extra IOS, normal system operations don't use it.
Now this is the fifth version of it. Previous versions always could be removed using the Uninstaller application from his website. So I think this one can be removed too easily. Perhaps it will require a new version of the Uninstaller though. AnyTitleDeleter should be able to remove it too.
