I have band steering setup on my routers, I have 2 at home, one for personal stuff the other for IoT devices.
Both have band steering setup on the WiFi, having said this my Switch 2 only connects to the 2.4Ghz band and will not use the 5Ghz band.
This is somewhat painfully slow to browse the shop and download games.
Is this something that the Switch 2 has a problem with or is it just my device behaving weird?

Possible solutions: From your router settings…

  1. Make sure you have Smart Connect turned off. You'll need to manually separate your 2.4G and 5G networks.
  2. Enable AX – this was key for me, it solved the problem completely.
  3. Restart your router and modem after making the changes.
Edited to add: Also, make sure your 5G network is set to channel 36.

No need for all of that I just enabled Wireless MAC filter and prevent the Switch 2 from accessing the 2.4Ghz band.

Having said that it seems like the switch has issues with the 5Ghz band/antenna, the signal is extremely weak even standing next to the router, single bar only.

UPDATE: Weird now the system has full bars. Something is going on with this device.
