Gaming Why so much Kinect hate?

Maybe it's the userbase of the forums, maybe it's something else, but all I can hear about online is how much people hate kinect. Every time I talk to one of those haters, they spew shit that makes me think they never even played with one. Everyone I talk to in real life that have it or have played with it love the damn thing, so what's the deal? Is it that you guys are butthurt that Microsoft jumped into the Motion Gaming arena? Or are you mad because it's just Microsoft? Really...I have no clue where the hate is from. It's not like it's a bad product, everyone I know that actually OWNS one wouldn't get rid of it if their life depended on it.

I own a Kinect and I really don't see where the people get the hate from. Sure the games aren't really that good, and the Kinect may look useless at times.... but I've never hated it..

Well I've never used it, but honestly it seems a bit too active for me (yes, I'm very lazy). With the wii, I just have to move my wrists, and I'm not really looking forward to move anything besides my hands to play a game. That said, I do not hate it and as a party system it might be fun.

So you would suggest to someone that doesn't own a Wii, but owns a 360 to go out, buy a $200 console, not to mention extra hardware (most likely another $100+) just to play motion games?

Kinect != Wii. Motion gaming is not something that Nintendo invented, believe it or not.

My personal reason really being that I don't even like motion gaming that much. I didn't (and still don't) care for it with the Wii since it can get annoying and just thrown in there for no reason what so ever and just so unnecessary so with the PS3 and 360, it's just the same gripe.
So I don't hate motion control, I just find it unnecessary must of the time.

I don't hate kinect but I also don't see an immediate need for me to buy one even tho I'd like to have it.
I need to see that killer game that screams out this is why you need to buy a kinect... Honestly Microsoft has not shown me that game yet. I'm hoping that the Star Wars tech demo that was shown last year is eventually going to be that kill game.

Is it really the games that are out now that persuaded you? Or is it the features and one or two games specifically. Just because over 2.5 million people bought it does not mean that was their reasoning. AngryJoe bought it specifically to review games.

I'm thinking of buying one sooner or later.

The 85 million people who own a Wii do agree with him. Nintendo may not have invented motion control, but they sure as hell use it better than any Kinect games.

Actually, it was my wife that wanted it, because we both need to lose a bit of weight, and doing that shit with a controller+nunchuk in hand, or strapped to one of our limbs is a pain in the ass, so we got it. I ended up thoroughly enjoying the other games it had to offer.

2.5 million early adopters have faith in the device. I have faith too... I just want to see one good game thats going to use this thing to its full potential. Hopefully E3 this year will showcase some great titles that will do so.

This is what I meant, many people have many different reasons to buy the Kinect, though the games out so far may dissuade many gamers. It is because people have not tried the games and automatically write the games off based on what they see and the reviews they see that the Kinect is so underrated.
