A scan by something else (Windows Defender or whatever) would always find something when AVG never said a word about it.

Read the sticky. Windows Defender was anti-malware, AVG is anti-virus.

Why were you stupid enough to download a bot for Runescape in the first place? :/ A few years back sure, it was safe. But now it's all trojans in them.

Hopefully you learned not to be stupid and play the game right.

Also, Malwarebytes, Kaspersky Internet Security, Avira, Microsoft's stuff just to name a few, are all amazing. AVG on the other hand, is absolute crap. It won't even pick up viruses/trojans until it's too late, or it won't pick them up at all.


Sidenotes: Keyloggers are fucking scary. I had one a few years back from downloading a Savage Garden torrent, it fucked with everything.

Ha, no I still use bots. No Trojans here. Idk about anymore tho since I still may have a keylogger. Even tho malwarebytes and avira deleted everything, should I worry? Or like my cousin said and worry because keylogger aren't detected by antivirus?

Keyloggers aren't detected by antivirus' (usually), but they should be picked up by malware.

Just to clear something up...

Whether an infection is a virus, worm, malware, whatever. That's it's classification. Think of that like a person's race.

WHAT an infection DOES (keylog, redirect, display ads) is a separate concept.

It's possible for both AV and anti-malware to remove keyloggers because a keylogger can be either.

I'm almost starting to agree, just from reading these posts....

But really, why can't he just do this:
1. Download Avira Rescue System
2. Burn to a CD
3. Place in computer's CD drive and reboot.
4. Run scanner.
5. Eradicate all malware/viruses/worms/trojans/etc.

I have a friend that programs bots for MMOs including Runescape. Maybe you are using his right now.

My point is this:

Think of your Runescape account as a seed. You start the bot for the first time on your account, the seed is planted. My friend (let's call him Bob) logs into your keylogged account every once in a while to see your progress. Once he sees enough currency/gear/mats on your account, your seed has blossomed to a beautiful tree that's ready to be cut down. Bob then changes the password, he transfers your stuff to anywhere between 2 to 10 different characters, and then Bob leaves your account to rot.

You keep using a bot, you may as well just get used to starting over every few months. I'm sure Bob would appreciate it.

To be honest, OP, you've brought the situation to yourself.

First of all, you shouldn't even BE botting at all in RS.

Second of all, you should KNOW that RS botting carry risks, such as getting your account banned AND chances of getting hacked.

Third of all, I assume that you're using some kind of bot called "RSBot"? If so, then you've just been keylogged. A few days ago, I heard something about the "Free Trade Mass Hacking" or w/e it was called. It had something to do with bots - that's for sure. Ever since free trade and old wildy came back, I've seen many, many players in RS begging for money and crying about how they've been hacked. I guess the bots were the reason why.

You have 2 options: 1) Discard the bot OR 2) Let the bot hack/keylog you once more.

Yeah, people used the bots to harvest info back before free trade came back. They didn't hack any accounts THEN because there wasn't as need. But now that free trade is back the makers are going through their accounts and picking stuff off of them, starting with the richest (or just working down their lists).

RS gold/items sell for a lot on the "black market". 50 million gold for over a hundred dollars? There's people that will hack accounts to sell the gold cheaply to the sites that re-sell it to users. Over a hundred dollars for a rich person using a bot? Hell yeah people are going to try that to make money.

Lol if anything they should perma IP ban you and perma IP ban any other ip that logged into any of the accts you were on. All I can say is I am glad a botter like you got infected and had your game acc stolen.. serves you right for cheating in the first place. Why the hell would you bot in a piece of shit like runescape anyway? furthermore why the hell would you even PLAY Runescape in the first place? Also just cuz you did some leveling legitly still doesn't remove the fact your a cheater who got what they had coming to them.

Years ago I remember reading a story where a gold seller was 'hacking' (read:social engineering) peoples accounts and stealing back the gold people bought.
