Hacking Why I quit using Darkcorp

Now if only the GC backups would load from a USB Loader. I know, I know, not possible, but one can dream.
Or one could just use DIOS MIOS when it's out.

I think that defeats the purpose of being useful for backups.

The whole point of a backup is that you don't need the original in the case that it becomes damaged or something.

The whole point of a "backup" is that it's backed up from your working original. =P If the original is damaged before you can make a functional backup then welp, too bad.

But DIOS MIOS is needlessly made to not work with normal iso's. Nevermind if your dvd drive is broken or your hard drive fails and your disc is damaged. Both can very feasibly happen, and I've seen both occur with the same person even.

You're right that it can happen. And yeah, it would suck pretty badly to be in any of those positions, much less more than one of them.

But really, we should probably avoid derailing this thread too much from the regular topic.

I think u mean it defeats the purpose of DISC backups

but fyi, DIOS MIOS is basically a usb-loader for GC games (so u would still need/have a backup on your USB HDD), but its not perfected, last I heard there were issues with the audio (but it was said to be impossible to get this far, so props to crediar!)

I used cIOSCorp 3.4 once, for one reason. It was the only way at the time to get Rock Band 2 to work right with the songs in the SD. (not leaving the songs in the NAND every time you played them).

As of this year, I got uLoader, so I just used DOP-Mii to update all my IOS to official. No more DarkCorp/cIOSCorp for me.

I use DarkCorp and USBloader.

Having both options is nice. I don't always want my external HD to be used, so... there you go.

Dudes. Y so hateful? Darkcorp is a beautiful solution for people who are lazy or for people like me who are not allowed to buy a modchip, but I have a little sister that probably will delete the wii's system32 if she has acces to HBC. That's why I use DarkCorp(oh, also, GC backup launcher in disc channel ftw).

You can get gamecube disc channel loading without Darkcorp.... Install any cMIOS with backup support.

Also, having reverted from it, "beautiful" is the word I'd use. When things that use ahbprot screw up on them, and things that would otherwise work fine, don't, that's when I draw the line. (Except, of course, when the programs are deliberately made to not work with modified IOSes, which has happened.)

I like having the system ios and ios36 dip patched, this allows disk recovery from RM if ever needed without a modchip.

+1. People who insist that there is no reason to have any patches on IOSes < 200 don't seem to remember this.

I've never used cIOScorp; I very nearly did when I first got started with my Wii, but I opted to go another route. Some people really are too stupid to follow the softmod guides. But for a lot of people, I think they see the number of steps and equate that with the number of opportunities to screw up and break something they know nothing about. Darkcorp is a lot less intimidating for someone who knows nothing about the Wii yet, or doesn't care to. Some people -just- want to play games.
