Hardware Why does my processors multiplyer keep changing?

I overclocked my q6600, and in cpuz, the processor goes from 6X333 to 9X333 seeimingly randomly

Your motherboard probably has...I don't know the technical term, but basically it's a feature that underclocks your CPU when your computer isn't doing much and raises it back to normal (or your overclock) when it needs to.

Is your mobo an Asus? Maybe it has what Zarcon said above... or maybe your power supply has problems? Go to the whirlpool forums and ask there, it's an Aussie forum for tech heads. They should know.

It's called speedstep. You may as well leave iton though as all it does is underclock your CPU when it is not being used to save power.
