I get a message from iTunes every time i try to restore my iPod Touch saying "File was corrupt during download". Any ideas on this?

It is a 4G. and has previously been Jailbroken

I think you are trying to update, not to restore. If you are trying to restore (to the current firmware of your device) simply press the restore button. If you want to restore to a newer firmware (update) hold SHIFT while pressing the Restore button and select the IPSW file of the firmware you want to update to.

Attached is a page with all the firmwares.
