Hacking Why cant ds flash cards run 3ds roms?

As the title says. What actually prevents ds flash cards from playing 3ds roms? Does the gateway 3ds have something that an R4I doesnt? I know ds cards only run in ds mode so thats a brick wall right there but speaking about the hardware in side the flash cards is their anything technically thats preventing the r4i running 3ds roms?

Hmm..as I understand it, they are two different modes, and the older stuff lacks the hardware to boot into 3ds mode.

That's overly simplistic but I hope it helps.

let me ask a rhetorical question in place of the answer why cant i play 3ds cartridges on my DS? ya see what im getting at i doubt it but ill say what i mean

its all harware ds mode runs the hardware required for ds games while 3ds mode runs hard ware required for 3ds games and DS flash carts run in DS mode so flash carts cant run 3ds games(sides gateway and clones butt hose are 3ds mode flashcarts)

What she was asking, babes, is since the gateway requires DS mode via a DS flashcart to launch gateway.dat, why can't we just use any card and launch a .dat what does everything on the SD card instead of having to pass through the 3DS Gateway card.

Seems like a fair question to ask to me.
