I've found generic variations of cola and Mountain Dew that are less watered down and taste MUCH better than Coke or Pepsi products. Half the price too. Coke and Pepsi just charge ripoff prices for their stuff anymore. Buyer beware though, not all generics are better. Trial and error will save you money in the long run.

Various stores sell generic equivalents, buy 'em and try 'em yourself. They ARE cheaper than the brand-name stuff after all, like $0.79 for a 2 liter. I'm not gonna set myself up for flames by mentioning names of generics and hearing that people don't like what I thought was better.

But I will mention a few of the nasty ones I've tried:
Family Dollar (or was it General Dollar? I always get those 2 mixed up

) has a cola made by Clover Valley....NASTY! Bogus, gross and disgusting kind of nasty.
Wal-Mart's generic Mountain Dew, called Mountain Lightning (yeah, name sounds like moonshine, heh)....not as good as the Dew....kinda sour in comparison.
Giant Eagle's generics are all pretty lousy.

So at least you know a few to absolutely avoid in your trials.
