You can either:
A) Upgrade to GEN-D2
or
B) Get a patched iso or patch your iso with Yoshihiro's Decryptor tool
I'd go with option A as its easier to just put an iso on your PSP without patching it. And if you're playing from a UMD, you can't patch the UMD itself so you can't play unless you go to D2.

As -aXe- said. GEN-D2 is the most user friendly because with other firmwares the process for playing new games takes a while having to patch files re-make the ISO and such. GEN-D2 on the other hand auto-patches the files.
