desktop = xp sp2
laptop = vista

all legit, I`m not one to replace the factory OS.

This laptop is running Vista, unfortunately. How I wish I could go back to XP, but I've got so much stuff on here that a format and re-install would take a week at least. Besides, I think I would void my laptop's warranty if I switched to XP. Not to mention I would need a legit copy of XP.... The only legit copy I have is an OLD version of XP Home SP1. However, it would take a day or two to fully update that. No, for the time being I think I'm forced to stick to Vista. I might dual-boot with Ubuntu further down the road though. Second year of college is all in Linux, and I suggested they used Ubuntu (they're using Debian right now) and they actually are considering it.

From a Vista user's opinion, Vista's not so bad once you disable UAC so you don't have so many program restrictions and you don't have that annoying Cancel/Allow bullshit.

But a few programs are still incompatible. For example, I tried installing Red Kawa's PSP Video 9 and I got a BSOD when I double-clicked the installer. Vista SP2 should have quite a few bugfixes though, and it just might be considered good after SP2.

I run XP because it's the best my current and only PC can run-

Pentium 3 1.2ghz
512MB ram
16MB Radeon Mobile

Yes that is the right specs. If I put Vista on my PC, I'm about 95% sure that not only would it not work, it would likely blow up.

If I ever get a new PC, I'd like to dual boot it with both XP and Win7. I'm pretty sad that I can't get a new one though.

I'm an OS maniac I got:
XP Home 32-bit
Vista Home Premium 32-bit
7 RC (Leaked) 32-bit
7 RC (Leaked) 64-bit
Ubuntu 9.04 (Virtual machine)
95 (on an old laptop)

EDIT: Not sure it really counts but:
Wii Linux

My netbook that I am using now (Acer Aspire One), has XP.
My Mums laptop, has Vista.

To me, Vista is to complicated and has lots of features you don't really need.
The overall style is pretty...weird though.

you people and your windows are depressing.

Features of windows:
crappy ugly graphics.
viruses.
microsoft.
having to pay for stuff.
microsoft.
closed-source.

there is really no reason to use windows, its a waste of your time and money. Linux is not only better, but the future as well.
