Hacking Where are savegames stored?

Hey!

I've just got my GW card and 4.5 3DS XL, and I've made some progress in a game, but I've grown a bit a tired and want to test a new one. Then the problem arises; I have only one SD micro card, and I'll have to reformat it for a new ROM.

Will the savegame for the game I'm playing (Super Mario 3D Land) be stored on the internal SD card of the DS, or will I lose it when I reformat the microSD card for the GW?
