From what I keep reading about the thing it just seems like a New 3DS version of the Switch. Everyone seems to keep hyping it up like it's the next Nintendo console. Is that what it is?

No no it has few but impactful upgrades like the new 3DS, but different enough to where you call it a new console

With that being said, I'm quite curious of what Nintendo has up it's sleeve with this one. I probably won't get it until way later though.
I like the unique features of Nintendo consoles.

Wouldn't get my hopes up. Nintendo has been SEVERELY lacking in new games this entire generation. Remake after remake. What's coming up this month? Oh, yea... another remake (Donkey Kong Returns HD... as if anything at all on the switch is HD). :hateit:
There have been plenty of new games as well, the only thing the Switch is really missing is a new Mario Kart (but we did get an entire game's worth of content as DLC) so that will probably be a launch window title for the Switch 2. And a new Donkey Kong Country, but it's not certain if Nintendo intends to keep that series going with regular releases since it was abandoned for a while before the 2 most recent entries. I would be up for another 3D Donkey Kong though and after Kirby even got a 3D platformer maybe there's hope.
Oh yeah, and Metroid 4 is still absent. But it's not for lack of trying that we didn't get that on the Switch, so it's understandable.
I mean a solid 80% of exploits on modern platforms are due to web vulnerabilities.

This was never once confirmed by Nintendo. However due to the systems using 2 different series of chips backwards compatibility is likely going to rely on legacy software running on a dedicated Tegra X1 chip. Meaning by default everything will basically run identically to the original Switch. However software can very much be patched to take advantage of the new hardware.
There is not going to be a dedicated Tegra X1 chip. For one Nintendo is probably concerned that could lead to more exploits since it's already happened once. But more importantly, it would increase the cost, size and cooling requirements.
One of the earlier leaks talked about Nvidia working on an updated version of their custom graphics API likely for the new chip in the Switch 2 -- although they were vague on the details, it really couldn't be about much else considering what we know. That would facilitate backwards compatibility, and although Switch titles wouldn't be able to take advantage of the improvements to the API, they could still benefit from the improvement in specs.
Even if the updated API isn't fully binary compatible with the old one, creating a translation layer a la dxvk is a much better solution than including the full Switch hardware on board just for BC.

Check out this shitty fake AI-generated slop, it doesn't even mention the smellovision

Good ASMR though.

Metroid 4 is still absent.
I didn't say there were no new games, did I? If I did, I was just venting my frustration at the lack of new games. We did get Metroid Dread, and it's freaking awesome. I still love it, and play randomizers from time to time. But as a Metroid fan, I find it very cringe every time someone mentions "Metroid 4". There are a hell of a lot more than 4 Metroid games. It's Metroid Prime 4. The "Prime" makes a HUGE difference in this case. Anyway, if I'm not mistaken it was officially announced already, so it is coming. I wouldn't be surprised to see it for both the Switch and Switch 2, and it wouldn't bother me all that much if it was only for Switch 2. I'm buying one for sure.

LoZ Breath of the Wild was awesome too. Problem is, Tears of the Kingdom felt like a rehash. Not only were there a ton of remakes, they literally made re-releases of a huge portion of their old library (NSO), and make you pay a subscription for it! At least to play online, anyway, which I don't ever do, but it still doesn't sit right with me, considering I've already purchased those games before.

To be fair, April is technically wrong, but they guess the full reveal date.
"When will the Switch 2 be unveiled?"... Not "fully unveiled". Don't add words in a phrase to make it fit whatever you believe.
Congrats to all those who voted January, you are all winners!!!
