Hi, I have a Nintendo DS Phat. I’ve swapped the charging port on it for a Type-C one, but when I plug the console into the charger, it switches off.
Everything else works fine: it charges, and once it’s charged, the battery works perfectly and it plays normally (the battery is new).
I soldered directly to EM10 straight away
I don’t understand what the problem might be?

Replace it with the original charging port. If DS works fine, then the problem is with the Type-C port/connection.
Otherwise, the motherboard might be having issues.

You need to replace charging port with a Type-C port that has dual 5.1K resistors.

I soldered a 5.1 kOhm resistor and it looks like it worked!
I thought a resistor was only needed to operate a type c - type c cable, wasn't it just for that? My friend just has a DSi and he soldered the same connector without a resistor and he didn't have that problem, you don't know why that is?
