Im planning to root my phone. Firstly, I would like to know whats the difference between zergrush and DoomLrod is.
There is a guide on how to root the phone over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
Should I choose zergrush or DL (DoomLrod)?
And on that link above, just about in the middle of section 2a, it says:

[*] Before u begin:
(1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(5) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
(6) skip "PC Companion Software" prompt on device
I don't get the 1st point. How do I get it?

Zergrush is the exploit used to root your device. and is what SuperOneClick and DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit use.

Both methods gives you root access, although SuperOneClick is much friendlier to use.

DooMLoRD is a developer, he created a tool to allow easy use of the zergRush exploit, then SuperOneClick added zergRush (and is a an even simpler affair).

You shouldn't need to install the adb drivers manually if you use SuperOneClick.

However it's a good idea to always have the ADB drivers installed in case it fails to boot so you can check logcat for errors.

so zergrush is basically the thing that roots your phone and superonelclick/doomlrod is the thing that helps you root your phone? E.g. to root, you need superoneclick/doomlrod AND zergrush?

zergRush exploit is just the name of somesort of bug in android that can be used to root your phone . SuperOneClick & DooMLoRD Toolkit are pc programs that use that bug to root your phone

So you simply just download SuperOneClick as its easier to use & let it do its work and you will have a rooted phone .

You don't need to OTA update after you've rooted and unlocked your bootloader, you can update your ROM/kernel any time you want, including newer stock firmwares and custom ones.

Can I still update to stock firmwares by ONLY rooting and not unlocking the bootloaders?

And btw, I've decided to go and use doomlrod v3 to root. But it says I should get the abd drivers. Anyone know what that is?

Why are you not using SuperOneClick? It's easier.

You'll need to unlock your bootloader to load in a new kernel, so AFAIK you will need your bootloader unlocked.

Doomlrod is also easy. You just run the .bat file and it roots ur phone for you.

So im stuck with the 2.3.4 firmware if I root but don't unlock the bootloaders?

Just another question. Is it possible to make super one click use doomlrod instead zergrush?

How could you not understand that SuperOneClick and Doomlrod use the same exploit: Zergerush

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it makes sense now.
superoneclick it is then.

Ok... But what if the official ics 4.0 comes out on my phone? Can I still update to the official /stock ics update whilst my phone is rooted but haven't unlocked the bootloaders?
