It lets you backup your NDS save files to the computer.
It's not a bad piece of hardware. It works quite well from what I hear

I works well on windows 32-bit systems...but getting 64-bit systems to work is a bit more involved and doesn't always work. If you're buying one, make sure you're getting the "plus" version and not the regular one. The plus version has upgradable firmware and lets you save and reload pokemon HGSS saves without the use of a jumper connection.
