it depends on how good a cpu you get, and you said nothing about a graphics card, 1gb of ram is ok, but as of right now you can play older games, since most need more then 256mb of ram to play.

Lmao, I've got the same PC running in my family room, it causes nothing but problems [IMG]

Good luck getting it to "gaming rig" status, you're going to spend more money than its worth to even get close to that mark. Not to mention the outdated standards and shoddy Compaq parts, you've bought $80 worth of headaches!

It was great for playing games like Hugo's House of Horrors in the living room! [IMG]

As stated earlier, this would make a great Linux box for casual use. That said, it would then be the exact opposite of what you are looking for.

I dismantled one of those lugabouts once, just to find the hamster that it ran on. But it was much larger than that one in the picture and damn was it heavy.

Here to buy a PC u would need 400 dollars for a regular pc simple VGA, ram etc but upgrading is total disaster if don't find the right shop. Upto 300$ maybe for a good PC 1gb ram 256 mb card + 3ghz CPU

MythTV is good enough for your stuff. It combiçnes the media center, MAME cabinet, and it runs on linux, so your hardware will feel rejuvenated. (try beryl on a 1GHZ PC with 256 megs of ram and an old 3D card => happiness)
