Homebrew Question What should I do with my Switch v1.0

I have a switch from launch day still in a box. I only got it out to play the hidden golf game back when it was first discovered. Then I put it away. Now we’re on lockdown so I finally have some time. Is there any point in having a 1.0 firmware? Or should I just update and start using it?

There is currently no point in having a lower firmware, however if you keep your fuses uburned if an exciting new exploit is discovered you'd be able to get downgrade to whatever firmware you needed to. It's not hard to keep your fuses safe, just do a bit of research before updating and be careful.

Unless there's a secret or something really epic that you can do in 1.0 that you can't do anymore in later firmwares then I don't see the point staying in 1.0 and waiting all those years.

If you are on 1.0, you can decide which exploit you want to use. Except fusee-gelee you have also PegaScape.

there isn't going to be a cold boot exploit for a very long time. your best option is to get a internal mod chip set up and a emunand going.

I think of all the fun i have had. In the early days with pfba. Then playing retroarch which eventually got stuff like psp and dreamcast working. My experiences with Android where i played sega saturn. We actually have a great horizon ds emulator now. Playing stuff like half life, postal, bladerunner, and morrowind. Ff7 omnislash was amazing. Jeez for other people who read these posts. Yes i once let a ps4 sit in a drawer for well over a year. It is true. But once a scene developed I was on it. Never ever do this. Part of the fun is the progression. You also end up getting behind on soooo much knowledge. But the first thing I think of is all the fun they missed out on. Not updating till hacks/mods Good. Leaving your system untouched once worthwhile hacks and mods are available bad.
