Aside from the occasional frustration of a game not loading, nope.

All homebrew/modified code comes with risks.
Besides, if you've brick-blocked yourself you shouldn't be worrying much

1. If you get a bad installer you can brick your wii.(very low risk)
2. If your on a newer firmware it wont install properly and requires a downgrade (no wii issues)
3. Downloading games is illegal and can get you arrested - backing up games is also illegal in some countries
4. By installing the Homebrew channel and backup loader you can void your warranty.

If you install/run bad code, your wii can be rendered useless (aka, a brick).
Brick-Blocking is a fail-safe. Some apps include this feature (ie. Starfall)

Keep reading and welcome to the community. Don't get discouraged, were all noobs at one point.
