Look, I'm sure there are a lot of happy R4 users who couldn't care less about the games they can't play.
But they don't post here.
Here we only ever get people bitching for a fix for a particular R4 clone. And it pisses us all off.
They want us to provide them with a fix. They may not be aware of the fact that a dozen other people have already asked, but they still did- and that gets to us.

Sure, our hatred for R4s may be a bit extreme, but if you had lived through every last bloody R4 thread (like we have for many years), you would hate them too.
Especially when you deal with people who refuse to read the stickied threads and instead ask the same questions over and over and over.

Anyway, I'm not trying to attack anyone in this thread- I'm just trying to explain our position and reasoning..

Ya like with the pokemon games, every card out there got a fix except for the r4 and dstt and the people that were asking for a fix were most likely a r4/dstt user.

i dont think buying a clone r4 for 3 dollars and being able to play 90% of all games and put all the dpg movies on it i want is being a sucker. it doesnt have all the bells and whistles of the other carts, but for my 8 year old , or me on the road- there is nothing better

again 3 dollars,, priceangel

Oooh! $3??? Man, i'm gonna go pick one up right now! /s

Seriously, you get what you pay for, and sooner rather than later you'll come to us whining and begging for a fix for some new game, and you're going to get flamed to hell, someone is probably going to get warned, and your topic will be closed without you getting your answer. Is this what you really want? How about you scrap that $3 piece of junk and buy an M3 or AK2i (You seriously can't afford $15-20?) and save us all the trouble, eh?

QUOTE(mr.uk @ Mar 30 2010, 10:18 AM) ^ Exactly there's a lot of idiotic responses here but they seemed to ignore the fact that the card worked really well, it played everything I put on it. I just want something I can customise a bit more.

Idiotic responses? lol. I'm sure the funny of your statement is not lost on you.

edit: and if you have an r4i-sdhc from r4i-sdhc.com , it really isnt a bad card. Their latest firmware supports pokemon hg/ss usa version and german, and it even supports warioware diy(creates a proper save and everything) It also fixes dsi enhanced games.

This r4 clone, isn't as bad,,,if only they named it something else >.

So your argument is that you should buy a more expensive flashcart, because if you don't, you'll be shunned by clique elitism?

I stopped with that kind of crap in secondary school.

Its not elitism, Its a simple fact that R4 clones are like the Yugo of the flash cart world. get over yourself. Nice first post. you must be an R4 reseller.

No, I know that the R4 is bad, I use a Cyclo myself. But arguing that you should buy something else, simply because a few people who don't matter would look down on you, is simply retarded.

I've been lurking for a while, but yours is the first post I've felt the urge to respond to.

The "elitist" logic explained. We will call the average R4 user Bob.

1. Bob was dumb enough to buy the R4 super mega gold SDHC version thinking it would be awesome.

2. Bob bought the cart doing no research at all, by that same logic, Bob would do no research for his own problems with the cart (which is almost ALWAYS the case), and in effect, have people look down on him like the retarded kid in class that just shit his pants.

I really don't care if you bought the R4 or not, just don't expect me to help you out. Plain and simple, there are so many R4 clones that almost no one knows what method to go about fixing your problem.

3. Bob tries to do research for his own problems with the cart and gets bawled out by people who think they're better than him because they bought another type of flashcard.

It reminds me of when kids got bawled out by people who think they're better than them because they bought another brand of clothes.

Considering I don't have an R4, I don't really have any R4 problems either. Even then, I wouldn't really care.

Why did you come to the r4 forum and wrote those tldr post if you don't care that much about r4? You could simply ignore this thread and go on with your life.

You might as well take the time to watch southpark episode called smug alert.

Posting on the forums asking about your problem =/= research. Its asking for someone to hand you an answer. If R4 users typically did their own research, it wouldnt be a problem.

The fact of the matter is, Bob, and other R4 users don't get bawled out for actually owning an R4. They get bawled out because the typical R4 user is a god damned idiot, that has no initiative to fix his or her own problems.

I know that not every person who owns an R4 is a "typical" user, but it's enough to where the "stereotype" is damn near close to the truth.

That being said, an R4 in the hands of someone capable enough to solve their own problems, that has a bit of patience, can be an okay thing.

PS: IMO, The clothing example is flawed. All clothes work the same. they cover your ass. Thats it. The only difference is labels. With flash carts, there are many differences, many dealing with functionality. A better example would be like comparing a Mac to a PC, but even that argument has its flaws.

So you're denying that the R4 can't play all games that recently come out this year?If you seriously can't a better flash cart then you must be really poor or only go for the cheaper ones.

If certain people actually read one of my replies on the first page instead of trying to sound all clever you would see that I returned the card and I now have in my hand an Acekard 2i.

And as I said the card worked fine in a simple way, I just wanted to be able to do a bit more, which I now can.

Also I never made this thread complaining about games not working (quite the opposite actually, had no problems at all)

Thanks to the one person who did try and help out.

The pictures on the site where I got it from showed several different pictures so had no real idea what I was actually going to end up with.

I've got a better card and moved on. But after nearly a week later there are people carrying on about a card I don't even have anymore in an attempt to look big.
