I'm a small Switch streamer who is currently having a hard time with stream sniping trolls. Even when I block one, they seem to come back with an alt. I contacted Nintendo about this issue but never got a clear answer. If I block a user on the Switch, does it block the IP address, console, or only a single account?

Stream... sniping? What?

EDIT:

wow. That sucks. But I'm pretty darn sure there isn't a thing you can do on your console to mitigate it. You'll likely get yourself banned for using homebrew, before you do.

Found this:
Stream sniping: the act of watching a stream to determine where someone is during a game and using that knowledge to kill them

How do you know this is happening or you're just getting killed because you just suck at the game?

Do you believe you're being stream sniped when you're a small Switch streamer? The chances of that happening is honestly pretty low if you're not exactly a popular streamer. It could just be that the other players you've been facing are most likely just better than you.

Blocking someone on the switch means they no longer can send you a friend request/you no longer see that they sent you one. So unless you exclusively play with friends on your friend list (and have really shitty friends who then stream snipe you), blocking them on your switch isn't going to help you at all.

Some games might have a block function in game. You need to look up what those do.

Most small streamers I follow who had a problem with stream snipers simply started to only play with friends and people who joined their channel's discord. I think most have a "be a discord member for a week" rule before someone gets access to the streamer's friend code.
Most people who wanna stream snipe want to do that NOW and the one week wait makes them give up and look for someone else to annoy instead.
