New Super Mario Bros
Yoshi's Island DS
Sonic Rush/Adventure
Giana Sisters DS
Crash of the Titans (3D)
Super Princess Peach
Mario 64 DS (3D, play the N64 game if you can, N64 wins in control, DS version wins in content)
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (shocked? this one has a lot of decent 3D platforming surprisingly)

EDIT- most everyone likes N+. It didn't really click for me, but I'm sure everyone can't be wrong on that account.

Those are all I can think of that you don't have listed. Steal Princess is another one I hear, but not tried it yet personally.

Those are the ones i liked : ). Also just test out and find games, you never know what you'll find : )

Ohhh! and Mario Party DS was super fun : ). Try it out!

I don't know if this is considered action/adventure, platform or both. The Legend of Zelda for DS is pretty impressive, even if it isn't a platform game, you'll still love it!

However for Platform Games:
Sonic Rush (Series)
Super Mario 64 DS
New Super Mario Bros
Yoshi's Island
Kirby (Series)
Castlevania (Series)
Megaman (Series)
Contra 4
Giana Sisters
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
Prince of Persia: The Fallen King

Coming Soon:
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Chrono Twins is also a platformer. It's got a nice twist that you control two different time phases at the same time.

Kim Possible in Global Gemini has gotten some good reviews.

Kung-Fu Panda and Kung-Fu Panda Legendary Warriors, Wolverine, Ultimate Spider-man, or any other Spider-Man might be considered more action-y, but there are platforms.

Super Princess Peach and Wario: Master of Disguise are both Nintendo platformers, though not quite as good as Mario Bros or Yoshi's Island.

Crash: Mind Over Mutant is 2D side scrolling. Pretty decent if you liked the GBA Crash Bandicoot.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (the first one) is a 2D platformer, though there is a bit of a confusing map/Hub to it. The actual game play is classic 2D Rayman style.

New Zealand Story Revolution is an update to a classic that's full of platforming and cuteness.

Drawn to Life is a Platformer with a cool RPG-like Hub in between levels.

Tak: Mojo Mistake is a great gem, it plays a bit like a mission-based platform game. A LOT like Toomba.

Teenage Zombies is technically a platformer, but you switch between three characters with different abilities. Some like it, some don't, your mileage may vary.

So to recap:
Chrono Twin
Kung Fu Panda
Kung Fu Panda Legendary Warriors
Spider-Man (Series)
Wolverine
Super Princess Peach
Wario: Master of Disguise
Crash: Mind Over Mutant
Rayman Raving Rabbids
New Zealand Story Revolution
Drawn to Life
Tak: Mojo Mistake
Kim Possible (Series)
Teenage Zombies

just want to add a +1 vote for the Wolverine/Xmen Origins game...
Im a platformer junkie and ive been hopelessly addicted to this one since i got it.
If you love the dash-jump-slash-button-mash genre..definitely hit that.

These games weren't mentioned above:
James Pond - Codename Robocod (retro platformer)
Densetsu no Stafi 4 (J release of Starfy, different game to U release)
Bubble Bobble Revolution (only for the classic Bubble Bobble)
Hirameki Action Chibikko Wagyan no Ooki na Bouken (Yoshi/Staffy style platformer)

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
New Super Mario Bros.
Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush Adventure
Draglade
Kirby: Squeak Squad
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Kirby: Super Star Ultra
Metal Slug 7
Contra 4 (also arcade version of first Contra, but it is not a true DS game)
The Legendary Starfy
The Legend of Kage 2

Not so good, but not bad
Saiyuuki: Kinkaku Ginkaku no Inbou
Claymore: Gingan no Majo
Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu 3
Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu 4
Naruto Shippuuden: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 5
Naruto Shippuuden: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 6

Thanks mewcuss!

A few weeks ago, I started a thread looking for a Japanese platformer like Hirameki Action Chibikko Wagyan no Ooki na Bouken, wondering if side scrolling platform games were just not en vogue in Japan and only an American thing at this point outside of Nintendo's first party titles. This game is exactly what I was hoping to find from that thread.

Already mentioned but I'd like to suggest Giana Sisters to everyone looking for a good Mario style platformer. Wasn't into the original games but this DS version is a massive improvement plus it gets better as you go along and actually becomes less of a Mario clone.
