Homebrew What a boot ROM dump would mean

It would make possible almost perfectly impersonating another 3DS, even development systems. (CTRNAND would still need to be re-encrypted, because the NAND CID is used to generate the key.) Because the private key for movable.sed on development systems is known, you could change the serial number to a fake one.
Does this mean we could do offline system transfers, by turning the target console into a copy of the source?

Better yet, Turning the target an virtually perfect(or almost) of the source 3DS(from what I understood), making those paperwork 3DS usable again?( I believe that this could happen, but don't trust me until further proof is shown :P it's just a speculation after all)

Yeah, I'm still not seeing any real benefit of a bootrom exploit for the homebrew community over a9lh.

This is what I see:
  • Doing everything we can already do with decrypt9 on a PC. This might make life easier for ROM hackers, but it is of little benefit for the average joe.
  • Making the process of hacking a 3DS for piracy easier, more accessible, and less time consuming. Of little interest to those of us who already hacked systems.
  • A wealth of information to make 3DS emulation more accurate. Again, of little interest to 3DS owners.
  • Easier to unban your 3DS. Only of interest to pirates, assholes who like to ruin online play, spam furry porn on Miiverse and morons who play unreleased games online.

How does a bootrom exploit benefit those of us who aren't pirates, or assholes who like to fuck with online services?

When the fuck are they going to release these two hacks they announced?
When will they release? They won't.

The most talented devs in the 3DS scene (these guys included) consider GBAtemp, and therefore the entire 3DS scene as a cancer. So they keep their work mostly private.

It falls onto the shoulders of the devs who are prepared to contribute to the public scene to replicate the results of the devs who made the presentation. We have the talent, but it could be months before we see a release.

Someone who likes to show off to people who dont know about console hacking. I know I do :P
So, dick waggling?

Nope. But I assure you, it isn't as big as you might think it is.
And you would know? Quit looking at my e-junk, perv! But seriously, get off your high horse lmao. Just because tons of people know about this stuff doesn't mean its not impressive to some. Its not like I'm taunting people with it either. Its usually friends and I always hack theirs for free after, assuming they have a 3ds. Don't worry about me and take care of your own junk, which I'm assuming with the way you felt the need to reply to me like that, is microscopic.

I see you missed the first word of my reply.

As indicated, I don't give a fuck about your dick waggling, nor do I ride a horse.

You seem incredibly defensive about it though, especially considering I said I didn't care. It seems like you feel you need to justify your behaviour to the broader community.

Why? I don't know, I'm not a psychologist. I suspect you'll have to look inward if you want to answer that question.

Peace. Horseless Rider out.

This would require a CFW to add / patch that feature. The bootrom exploit could boot said firmware, but by itself it doesn't do anything for the 300 icon limit. This will likely never happen for 2 reasons:
1) 300 is a fairly large number
2) You can already install more than 300 titles, the limit on the 3ds is the ICONS, not the titles themselves. They will install, just not show up on the home screen. You can launch those games from FBI.
I will probably ask this on the WiiU forum, but re your point 2, is there an equivalent to FBI on WiiU, i.e. a tool that lists and launches all installed titles? I've hit the 300 limit there and it's annoying.

I think you seem to be confused on the message here. I notice you can read the word "horse," so that's good, maybe if I simplify it for you? You commented on my ego, I called you an idiot. You say you don't care, but you felt the need to add a little something more after that "nope." You couldn't just leave it there. If you'd like to make a fool of yourself some more, feel free to PM me, but let's get back on topic, huh?
