So I hadn't played my wii for a few weeks, downloaded some new games, and got my external HD off my Wii to load them on. Plug it into the computer and it won't recognize AND the LED Lock light is flashing....

Tried plugging it back into the Wii, same thing, Lock LED light is flashing and not recognized by the wii now (I made sure it was in the proper port).

Did a quick search online and my hope may look grim as alot of people are saying there's not end-user solution, but I figured I'd try with you all and see if anyone could shed some light on my HD issue.

in case anyone needs it, the P/N is: WDBAAF5000EBK-01

any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

HDDs doesn't easily get corrupted when you unplugged it unless the HDD was doing something and you unplugged it.

So you plugged it on your PC and it didn't recognize it? Hmm, sounds like it has a bad sector. Try checking if it has a bad sector or anything. Does it show up on Disk Management? if yes, does it show healthy?

I already had 2 HDDs that died because of bad sectors.

i know what your talking about now i forgot all about that lol. when you download something and put on your harddrive and you disconnected while your moving the file to your harddrive it it will become a badsector buts that strange it gives me an option to format it i also have an hdd and all i gotta do is hook it up to my usb port and go to my computer setting and click on removable disk k and it format but i don't really put stuff on mines just probably a few games and movies but if you got a lot of stuff on yours your umm Screwed lets just say that.
