Weird speaker problem

So i dug out my old Sherwood rv-4050R (receiver) and went to radio shack and bought a 3.5mm to male rca so i could plug the receiver into my computer,everything worked fine yesterday sounded good got to soundwhore in blackops for a while. I wake up today turn on my computer as usual and there's this high pitched noise coming out of all the speakers.My computer setup

Phenom iix4 b50 3.6ghz
2gb ddr3 1600
500gb seagate sata2
m4a79xtd-evo
crossfired 4650's
Storm scout case
The reciever is Sherwood digiline RV-4050R

This happens even if there is no sound playing....Also there is no mic plugged in
 
I found out a temporary solution i changed the volume in sound(control panel) and it elimainated the high pitched squealing noise but now blackops sound is really low

ok, either do this:

start blackops, and have the advanced features of sound mixer open, and put the BO sound way up

Or

update soundcard drivers, and do a connection test, then put the drivers to 2.1, 4.1 or 5.1 surround sound, its easy ish.. hope it helps.

(did you check the connectors in the back, are they properly attached)
