Hardware weird issue

I got a weird issue. I know there are several lights on the 3ds, but i dont know this one:

Basicly, when my battery was dying, i got the red blinking light at the middle of my 3ds. I then plugged in charger, but after a while, while plugged in, i saw some red blinking (Altho slower) lights again. I checked, but it was still charging

Are you sure it wasn't orange (orange means there's a friend online)?

I guess it could of been orange, yes. and it was blinking. So its just a notice that a friend came on?
