No matter what I do, webMAN MOD freezes my PS3. I formatted the HDD, reinstalled CFW, reinstalled webMAN MOD and changed webMAN MOD's memory usage settings to no avail.

Is everything on the USB where it's supposed to be? What Model are you using? Slim? Fat? Superslim? Are you using HEN? HAN? Could you attach a image of the USB root? Are you following a video or text homebrew guide?

USB? What do you mean? Slim. CFW. What do you mean by USB root? No, I'm not.

I personally don't like using WM. It mmakes my PS3 sound like a crazy jet engine.

Use the aalternatives instead

I checked webMAN MOD's "SYSCON" setting in "Enable dynamic fan control" (after clicking "webMAN games", "webMAN Setup" and "PS3 webMAN [Setup]"), clicked "Save" and the PS3 no longer makes all that noise (doing the "L3" + "R2" + "START" button combination for a few seconds also checks webMAN MOD's "SYSCON" setting in "Enable dynamic fan control") but I was told to not do it.

webMAN MOD made the PS3 do a lot of noise right after being installed because its "Auto at : 68 ºC" setting in "Enable dynamic fan control" (in "webMAN games", "webMAN Setup", "PS3 webMAN [Setup]") is checked by default and so I guess the console's temperature was always at least at 68ºC (including right after installing webMAN MOD and turning on the PS3 since it immediately made the console do the same noise [I find it odd it had these temperatures in both cases]).

I've also been using IRISMAN so what do I lose? I was told webMAN MOD is the most complete but its FTP server is slower than IRISMAN's.

I've been using Irisman to transfer games via a NTFS USB thru the File Browser, which is way better than Multiman's.

I play PS1 and PS3 games via external HDD (the first from a FAT32 partition and the latter from a NTFS one) and PS2 ones via the PS3's HDD/eMMC/SSD/SSHD and do the latter by using FileZilla Client and IRISMAN. If wanting to play PS2 games, copying them to the PS3's external HDD by connecting it to the PC and then copying them from it to the PS3's HDD by connecting the external HDD to the PS3 and using IRISMAN's file browser might take longer than simply uploading them to the PS3's HDD/eMMC/SSD/SSHD.

EDIT: I bought an used PS3 since the previous stopped reading BRs, installed webMAN MOD and it hasn't been freezing my PS3 so maybe it was the previous PS3's HDD's fault. Anyway, I got used to IRISMAN, so I uninstalled webMAN MOD again.

EDIT 2: I gave webMAN MOD a new chance and before reinstalling it I deleted IRISMAN. The "webMAN games" setting was empty with my external HDD connected to the PS3, which is odd. I disconnected it, restarted the PS3 and it wasn't empty. I installed prepISO and use it to scan the external HDD connected to my PS3 every time I make changes to my PS1 and PS3 games (which are now in the same partition) since the external HDD is formatted as NTFS. Also, I wasn't being able to connect the PC to the PS3 via FTP using FileZilla Client and webMAN MOD until I did this.
