Those explosions are pretty cool looking but the game itself is, well, you know. Average.

I'm hoping the Wii U version will be better. It will likely have the bugs ironed out, plus the extras that go along with the gamepad. Besides, I don't think it's going to be a direct port. Direct ports don't usually run well because the Wii U has such unbalanced stats, so they just scale it down to meet the weakest one.

Waiting for the Wii U release of Watch_Dogs is sort of like waiting for the Wii U release of Aliens: Colonial Marines (before Sega mercy-killed that version, anyway). Whatever fixes there might be, the end product still isn't going to change all that much, and there are other games much, much more deserving of your time and money.

It's still going to have the same repetitive gameplay and mechanics regardless of whether they use the Wii U gamepad or not. Adding in some additional "puzzle" mechanics on the gamepad isn't going to improve the game by much.

And chances are Ubisoft won't fix the driving physics, either.

But hey, there's always "hope" I guess. Since I ended up getting a Wii U for $150 I might grab this if it actually turns out not to be complete shit still.

That's why I said "hoping". I know it's probably not going to be true. It is being made by another company though, which is what a big part of my hope is based on. Of course it could be the opposite. It could be worse. I've also never owned a GTA game before, so any similarities between them won't matter at all to me.

Anyway, someone gave me a pre-order for this game as a birthday present (long before the other versions were released), so I'm not paying anything for it.

Hope is all you've got if you own a Wii U. ;)

Such a good video should be here!
Another disgraceful port of Ubisoft, they really upped the bar by this though. Why you would do this, and think it would NOT be discovered, is beyond me

Okay...this is pretty weird. I would've understood it if some settings were disabled if they weren't properly tested, but by the looks of it, everything works fine and it hardly hinders on the framerates either. So...what would be a good explanation?

My main bet would be that this would be enabled in one of the future patches. Cripple the game a bit in the short run to peek interest in it in the long run (kinda like DLC). That conspiracy theory of them being payed off is just bullshit. If that were the case, don't you think ubisoft would hide those settings a little better than in a freakin' .xml file? And with reputation of next-gen consoles as they are, it's not like anyone old enough to know about specs thinks that those consoles are a match for a high-end PC*.
Besides...even with those settings...does that blow the next-gen consoles out of the water or something? It may be if you do a side-by-side comparison, but who really cares about those nowadays? With graphical standards being what they are, that slight difference is neglectable.
Oh, and...are those settings actually enabled on the console versions? Lots of mentioning of crippling the PC version, but I haven't heard anything on that front either...

*I don't like to play the guy rubbing it in that PC's are superior, but in this case it's unavoidable.

I figure support was ditched to maintain performance on Xbox 360, and considering the flat development, it affected all releases.

Even with the patch the game still looks pretty mediocre. A sweetfx profile helps a bit, but until user mods fix the fov, driving, and controls in general, I'm uninstalling this shite game. Ten years ago this would've been one of those generic titles you rented at best. It's amazing how far Ubisoft and Western gaming in general has come in shipping off mediocrity as full experiences.

Hmm...I would've given them credit if they just blatantly admitted that those settings weren't tested enough to maintain proper stability. But this“difficulty in reading the environment in order to appreciate the gameplay.” is just bullshit. It's just avoiding to admit they wanted it to look the best on the consoles. And perhaps rightfully so, because who would like to hear that their xbone or PS4 is already inferior to the PC? So indeed: booh to them. Fire off some management guys and review that policy, ubisoft. Then we'll talk again*.

But this "ubisoft is the next EA" is also way too harsh of a judgment. At least you CAN upgrade the game to the best settings, as it's all included. At least it has BETTER graphics than every review claims it has. That's a good thing...right? (if you're into graphic whoring, that is)

*since everyone else seems to think voicing their opinion will change their company policy, I might as well take it a step further. ;)

They basically did. They were for an older version, and they got rid of the settings because the game didn't run smoothly in high-stress situations.

    Where all things matter
Finally we get a mod for PC? What about consoles? Well forget it, it is to late now since we got MGS5 in the league with GTA5 since their both coming out on the PS4, and Xbox one. Also speaking of MGS5, I don't know why Hideo Kojima depressed? MGS5 is going to be a great game with 1080p on the PS4, but 720p on the Xbox one (Hideo Kojima always Sony fan lol). He has nothing to worry about since it is going to be good competition between them. Also again, I don't know why resolution matter when it comes to consoles when PC is dominating very well? We all know that 8th gen was supposedly to be the year that consoles handle 1080p, but it didn't go out so well in that department, so why try to make it a bigger deal since it is on consoles? We all know that the console is very behind anyway? The same thing can be said about people comparing 7th gen and 8th gen to PC? That is just silly overall.

Those are called cubemaps, and they are used in many Western games, including Borderlands and BioShock. They can be interesting, as some cubemaps are created early in development or in test areas, and the reflection can show areas that do not exist in the final game, or even early areas before redesign. For the first Borderlands game you can see many early zones in the cubemaps from before the style change, and for Bioshock Infintie, you can see early Emporia, as well as the dead horse scene from an early E3 video.
