it only happens when it was shut off to quick. even the next day it would to it on first turn on. That cant be overheating. i remember feeling for heat but nothing. not even the ac adapter was warm.
Doesn't do it anymore though

It isn't due to overheating. I originally told NWPlayer123 that mine did that when it overheated. I guess he took it as the fact. It seems to be some kind of fatal error related thing.

I have also had it turn on but with no output to gamepad or screen. its like i was stuck in boot. perhaps it was checking files perhaps temp files. had to pull plug then it started normally. does not do it anymore since the 2013 updates

Fatal errors are great when they hit the hardware. And FYI blinking red means a malfunction not just an overheat. The unit shuts down to protect itself.
This is a last line of defense for most hardware. Sort of a last ditch effort to protect itself. You figure out how to hold the power on and you guys may in fact have something of great value. To whom does this particular homebrew belong to? And is the source for it released? And if you would be so kind as to link to it that would be greatly appreciated.
