He could use SafeA9LHInstaller to update his a9lh without OTP.bin.

Ya it should be there on your 3DS's SD. That was my thought too when reading about your problem.

I used another SD for installing A9LH. My MicroSD adapter was defective and i didnt want to risk anything. Later,i used that SD for another console and i formatted it.

Well if he has a nand backup, it's safe, and if he does it right on the first try, it's always retrievable.

It's safe to put your OTP in the root directory of your CTRNAND.
Right, you don't need OTP.bin to update a9lh. I just tried it.

I have folders of the console serial numbers and inside the emergancy ,OTP, and NAND backups to make things easy.

I'll just type it.

There's only one NAND chip, with "partitions" or "folders" inside of it. CTRNAND (CTR meaning 3DS, you'll see it a lot) basically hold most of the 3DS data, including the 3DS firmware, NAND apps, and stuff that makes the system/state of NAND unique, like what folder is read in the SD card.

TWLN is a DSi mode firmware, same for TWLP (TWLP is just where DSi photos are saved). Basically, whenever you see TWL, think of the DSi and DS.

Didn't know the 3DS uses "ntr" mode when dealing with DS games... especially when it can use DSi firmware to simulate DS.
