vWii not upscaled when using component cable

I have a PAL Wii U set to 720p resolution. If I use a HDMI cable to connect it to the TV, the vWii (Wii mode) is upscaled to 720p internally which gives a pretty sharp image. But when I connect it using a component cable (5x RCA), only the Wii U part is displayed at 720p. When I start vWii it just output 576i to the TV which gives a blurry image.

Is it possible to let the Wii U upscale the vWii when using component cable output?

I don't have a good answer here (I don't have any PAL consoles), but what does the console display if you set it to Component 480p on the Wii U side, then switch to vWii mode?

That's normal and an imposed limitation by Nintendo on European consoles throguh software when using component.
