Is the VWII run using emulation or is there actual wii hardware in the wiiu?
AFAIK they basically 'downgrade' the Wii U to behave like the Wii, although vWii does have it's own NAND.
It's not emulation. The hardware is backward compatible with the Wii.
It's a virtual machine, pretty much.
That was an interesting read. While a lot of it is still over my head, the connections I could make intrigued me.
When you have an hour, watch the video and follow along with the slides.
Even just switching back between wii and wii u diagrams will give you a better understanding.
Wii U is an overclocked Wii + tablet + HD.
If Wii processor could be overclocked, would be a Wii U
Of course that is complete bullshit but whatever.
Next time suggest rubber-banding three wiis together and then overclocking them. That still would not be accurate.
The wiiU GPU is a completely redo. It has the registers of the old wii but its now a completely shader based gpu. I would imagine though that on future consoles, wii emulation would be done entirely in software. Or they would pull a ps3 launch and have the hardware onboard seeing as its super cheap/runs very cool.
But yeah, similar CPU, MUCH different GPU
CPU is the same architecture, PowerPC, but the GPU is another beast, emulation would be buggy as hell, so hardware virtualization is the way to go with vWii.
