Hardware volume is off but camera shutter still at max volume?

When i take a picture with my 3DS XL the camera still makes the click noise at full volume although my volume was off?

Has this always been? I have never noticed it

Was taking a picture of my 7 month old daughter and I knew the click would wake her and it did lol.

This because of certain laws in certain countries, a mobile device is then forced to make a sound when you make a photo so people know you took one.(maybe of them) Just so perverts can't do their thing for example.

The DSi does the same thing too. They say its to prevent "naughty" pictures. There is no way to turn it off, at least that I know of.

Makes sense, I'm sure I've heard that before, just not something that comes to mind when looking to take pictures of my wee girl whilst sleeping haha ;P

Wait for a possible hack, the only other option would be installing a physical switch for the speakers or disable the speakers entirely.

If you wanna take pictures of sleeping girls, try using your phone, or an actual camera. Why would you use your 3DS?

And I don't want to take pictures of "Sleeping girls" just of MY sleeping 7 month old daughter.
