Is there anyone with some reputation in the Vita scene who can actually confirm if this makes downgrades possible? I'm excited but sceptical.

Yeah, downgrading firmware is like the holy grail. I can't remember it ever being achieved. I could be wrong tho.

yeah ok, even if this work out...
why?
downgrade below 3.60 - ok, now we can't use henkaku anymore... (hopefully it will get ported to lower fws eventually)
and it's useless above 3.61 because no henkaku.

so, only useful for people who would rather have psp piracy than henkaku... seems weird.
but good to have a choice i guess lol

--ooh, but i saw fw spoofer, ok that would be nice.
but yeah not as simple as we would like i think.
psn requires new keys that they put in the newer fws each time (yes?)
so, we would need to get the keys from the newer vita fws.
maybe i'm wrong, but yeah i don't think psn access is as simple as editing the vita's version to '3.61'

Several reason why:

- learning experience on how system os works so in future when someone will find another kernel access on fw higher than 3.60 people will be able to downgrade to lower fw
- possibility of henkaku lower firmware where some holes were not patches aka more access to system like ePSP side of it.

Sorry if I ask a stupid question, but why would one downgrade his Vita exactly? This probably works on 3.60, which is the golden firmware afaik. Or am I missing something?
(However a fw spoofer would be awesome)

PSP eCFW and related PS1 hacks only work on firmwares 3.55/3.52 or below.
but as soon as the right people start looking at how henkaku works and put some time into it, we should have all that on more on 3.60 :)
but yeah, until then... (although, for me and i imagine most people, henkaku is much better than psp piracy)

That depends on people being able to find a new exploit in the ePSP or reverse engineering HENkaku. It's not a given.

I'm sure some people would rather pirate PSP and PS1 games. That's just how it is.

Well, that may be true. But I still would love to play my psp games on the vita without re-buying them.

sure some people, but most? if it was so important i don't think many would have updated.
anyway, people have been/are looking into henkaku, and i guess that when it is understood more we won't need to worry about finding an exploit in the epsp because, we already have control.

but also, it has been a long time since a psp kernel exploit release, surely someone must have some. it's a good time to release i think.
although maybe too late, because the only way to make us of it is getting via a ps3 etc, since we don't have psn access.

sure but i'd rather hold out on 3.60 with save decryption/game editing, than psp isos.
i'm not alone right :)

interesting thanks. i guess it could be a good idea, for example, on 3.60, yes, for certain we can have all these good things like piracy, psp piracy etc. (it's just a waiting game, i'm 'certain' it will happen - i'd bet $100 lol)

but on 3.61 and above, we have nothing, so why not keep the psp exploit for a while longer, so the higher fws have something.
