I've been searching for AGES for another Visual Novel/Story based game to play.
For example games like: Hotel Dusk, Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright.
Anyone know any other good ones to play?

I have played the following:
The entire Professor Layton series so far
All Phoenix Wright Games
Hotel Dusk
Last window
999
Ghost Trick
Another Code
Again
Time Hollow

I derped... forgot these:
1) Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor (SMT:DS 2 already released in Japan, US/EUR probably coming next year)
2) Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

EDIT: the two aren't connected. Just treat Shin Megami Tensei like Final Fantasy (it's like a trademark  ) although Strange Journey is part of the main series (4th installation), while Devil Survivor is one of the bunch of spin-offs.

I've played a bit of Devil Survivor but never finished it.
Never heard of Strange Journey, I'll be sure to check that out too. Thanks.

I'd like to bring up Lux Pain. If you enjoy VN's, you'll enjoy LuxPain.

Edit
Wait, VNDS? Does that play all Visual Novel Games? Or do they have to be specifically converted?

I wonder how hard it is to convert -there are a few VN's I'd LOVE to have on the go. There's not that many available, but the list is -snip-

Well, you should also try Little Charo if you're into visual novels...

It may look childish, but it's quite good. And don't worry about the Japanese at the beginning, you'll be surprised 95% of the dialogue is English. (now you'll just have to figure out which command is which as those are still Japanese, but it didn't stop me from finishing it).

Out of those, I would suggest:
Red Shift
Saya no Uta
The World to Reverse -hallucinate-
True Rememberance
Tsukihime

I haven't yet read any of the others, as my roommates decided they wanted a few more games to play on my R4 as well before they got their own Micro SD cards to use.

Edit) I checked through that Wiki and -snip- explains how to do it. It looks difficult, as you have to convert every graphic, script, and sound.
Edit2) I snipped the URL up there since it's the same wiki that hosts the completed projects. To find this crap, just google it. It really isn't that hard to find.

The lack of Jake Hunter : Memories of the Past saddens me.
You should like it if you like detective stories.

It's too bad Akai Chō will never get an international release.

Just gotta say, if you get vnds, you gotta try saya no uta!
There's not much in the way of choices, but it does have 2 completely different endings and is a great read.
It's pretty intense and more in the genre of horror.
Definitely not the run of the mill visual novel.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
